Of course you are confused. You are dealing with Walter. To make it clear for the less enlightened, I believe he(?) is referring to his(?) appointment for a manicure/pedicure so he(?) will be looking PRETTY during the planned protests. Whatever will be protested.

Unfortunately I do not think I will be able to attend on Sunday.
