There was a nice turnout of about 100 people at the Hydroplane Museum for a kind of surprise birthday party for Phil. The old codger is now 70, just a couple of years behind me.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Phil.
It was nice to see Pat, Walter, Fred and some other Corvette owners there.

I wish all of you on this NW forum would have been at the soiree last night. It was amazing and brought tears to my eyes - unless that was the Kent Police with their tear gas assault once Walter started getting out of hand. Believe me, if I had any say in the matter I would have invited you all. Hmmm, maybe we should have a dress rehearsal at Walter's as a tune-up for my 80th... by which time I might need a complete overhaul more than a tune-up. Just sayin'
I was really pleased to see at least a few of my forum friends at the party. Since it was a surprise (despite receiving an invitation myself via Email) accordingly I was't able to send out invitations myself for fear of divulging the surprise. Bless my daughter, Shelby, for watching over her dad and somehow knowing at least a few friends off the forum. So cool having my Corvette friends, gather with my motorcycle friends and my race boat friends, Alfa, Porsche and Ferrari friends along with my family.

I would have gotten the perfect birthday gift for you, seeing how much of a "car guy" you are....some old car magazines from the 60's and 70's. I think you would have enjoyed them!

A belated happy birthday Phil and Keith.
Phil was one of the first CF members I've met face to face and gave me a delightful tour of the Hydroplane Museum last year.
I wish you many more happy birthdays Phil!

I've already enjoyed them, Joe. In 1957, 1960, 1966...1972. Don;t forget I've still got at least 3 more boxes if you want them. Bring a larger car next time.

What a Party
Thanks for the birthday wishes. I wish you all could have been there. Really. My daughter and Blue Blaster crew mate, Shelby, did much of the organizing and handle the invitation list. (which begs the question as to how she found out about Walter, yet invited him anyway)
I plan to stay 70 for at least a year so perhaps we can continue the celebration and include Keith, Keith, and the others in the party. Maybe at the XXX (the root beer place, not a porno theater featuring films for like "Debbie Doesn't Remember how to do much of anything") You do realize that we're doing nothing to change the demographics of Corvette enthusiasts though?
We may be missing a bet by not approaching Adult Day care centers, Cruise lines, Medicare supplement insurance providers, Viagra and Cialis pharmacies, funeral homes and lawyers specializing in last will and testaments, as potential sponsors for our events.
I'm hoping and praying that GM doesn't give up on attracting younger buyers and simply turn Corvette engineering and manufacturing over to Buick. "Gee, I always wanted a Cadillac, but they make them with stick transmissions now"
God forbid that the original "Root Beer Raiders" group change their titles to something like "Metamucil Mavericks"
Just sayin'
