Default Insurance

We just bought another family car and our insurance is up in a few weeks. Might be a good time to shop. We're with State Farm now and I have no complaints, but would be interested in shopping if any of you like your local agent enough to recommend them.

We have Allstate for house, cars, boat, just about everything. Have had them over 20yrs. Not many claims but they were there when we needed them. Our neighbor had a tree fall on our ramp to the boat dock a few years ago. He had State farm who refused to cover it because it was "an act of god"!! When we called Allstate they said sure, but have to depreciate as it is over 30yrs old. No problem. It was wood and we had a new aluminum installed. Cost $4,000 they covered $2,000 couldn't complain!!

My wife and I have had our insurance thru AARP (The Hartford) for your 10 years. Rates have been real reasonable for everything including the Corvette. It's worth looking into.

last time I price shopped in this area, state farm was one of the most expensive options.

my local allstate agent has provided good customer service on inquiries and policy changes, quotes and car changes etc.. haven't had to deal with a claim yet, but the pricing is fairly average. rachelshreve@allstate.com

Sounds promising Walter. I'll give him a try. I've talked to Allstate, Progressive, Geico and some others. Frankly I'm getting weary of the "corporate response" and what appears to be quoting me prices on lower coverage. Never did get to talk to Flo.

Must be time to get a local agent... So helpmeet, if he returns my cll and says something like, "Hay, you know Walter" he may be my kinda' guy.

That's much nicer than what we call you on the forum.

BTW, does your agent know about your canine "Puppy ****" collection?

What's to insure? What I would really like to know is who took those photos and where did you get a lizard skin Tutu?

You do know we're going to get moderated off this forum again, don't you?

Have you seen the thread on the MHCC trip around Mt St Helens?

MHCC is a group of Corvette people I had the good fortune to meet the year we took Miss Wahoo to Chelan. Nice people. They went on some winery tour the next day. I think they had more fun that weekend than me. At least they were;t covered in grease and were not bleeding from their knuckles.

I'll be willing to bet if you straightened up they might even invite you along to one of their tours - which, given your response, may have already excluded you.

Walter, have you ever heard of Dale Carnegie or read his book?

Oh, wait, you're an engineer aren't you? Thank god not the type that drives trains.

Are you at work - oh, sorry

Want to come down and help me finish the "Pay n' Pak" so we can get the damn thing out of the way so we can move Randy's Miss Madison in?

I mean, even if we have to miss the Mt St Helens tour? Actually it sounds like it might be fun.

Just sayin'

Well, the group either decided not to tell you about it for whatever reason or, most likely I confused another post about some of us/them taking a tour around Mt Hood.

My apologies. Walter scares me sometimes and gets me confused.

I used to work in insurance, and as a rule, if they advertize heavily, stay away....remember, you get what you pay for. That being said, I'm with Travelers, and while not always the cheapest option, when it comes to claims, they are top notch. Interestingly enough, my 99 FRC, is cheaper to insure, than my Eldorado was, with the same coverages.
