Default Got an Offer on the C6

I had a telephone offer on my '07 Coupe this afternoon. Far too low by about $6K, but if I could find a dealer with the C7 I want maybe I could run it through their books as a trade in, let them sell it to the guy, and realize some sales tax savings.

Problem is that anything available locally is not the color and doesn't have the trim level I want. I want red/black, 2LT, no Z51, but with chrome wheels and a 7-speed manual.

Just sayin'

I do not mind waiting for some dealer to get the car I want in stock and then try to work something out.

I maybe way ahead of the curve in hoping that's something likely to happen anytime soon.

No problem. The C6 is near perfect and ready to take another road trip.

Then, of course there's always another Porsche....

That's interesting. Sounds like it might be the same guy. I was offered $7K less. I did not let out that there were relics of The True Cross embedded in the right side door panel. I'm saving that for future negotiations. I'm just waiting for the first Christian-Chevrolet church/car dealer to open.

Maybe there's something going on we don't know about. Like the old Crosley Clown-Stuffing vehicles from the "Big-Top" Circus era, someone is trying to cash in on what they believe to be the Next Big Thing. After all, there seems to be no shortage of clowns on the stage at Barrett-Jackson auctions, so who knows? Besides, Renault's effort to market their "LeCar" as a replacement for the Crosley didn't seem to work out.

I guess the thing to do at this point is for us all to gather together at Walter's for the next televised auction, drink his scotch - at least the stuff I haven't already smuggled out in small dixie-cups and those syringes he leaves lying about with his weight loss meds. So help me, though, if I see a bunch of those B-J guys stuff themselves into the first red C6 that rolls across the ramp I can at least say, "I Told You So"

We do know, don't we, how many issues of old car magazines these things will carry, don't we?

Default Problem Solved

Here's what you do. Get up early and drive into Seattle on I-90....preferably before 5 AM. As your coming out of the tunnels get in the left lane and look for a tractor trailer to drive over you. You have to go early because you may not be as lucky as I was and find one on the first try.

You can wait until just past sunset, park your car in the slum neighborhood of your choice with the window down and the key in the ignition. Or, find a nice birds nest and place it near the exhaust manifold (car outside unless you would like a new home also) and then press your new remote start early in the morning to warm up the car. You're welcome!

I doubt this fellow would welcome the opportunity to drive all the way to Idaho to buy my car.

Goodness, was this an unsolicited offer or did you put the Aero Lightweight up for sale while I was down in desert hot springs last week soaking up the sunshine?

Well, yes, I did, actually. When I received the second call I started to look around to see if any dealers had anything close to what I was considering in a C7. Alas (I love using that term) every dealer within reasonable distance either had none or had something with the sort of things Walter would order. In other words, nothing.

So, with Spring fast approaching and pleas of taking road trips to casinos she's never seen before (hard to believe) it would seem any chance of getting the car I want - AND selling the C6 AL 1/42 - don't bode well.

There is no shortage of alternatives out there. The Porsche Cayman, the new Mustangs, the Dodge/Fiat Challenger SRT8 the new WAY overpriced Alfa Romeo, and, of course a new Camaro (note spelling, Walter)...

We are fortunate these days in having so much available in terms of performance cars perhaps that's why I'm having some difficulty making up my mind.

I'll probably just stick with what I have. Even without NAV it seems to find its way to every casino between here and Nevada.

I just sold my motorcycle and I'm beginning to think that may have been a serious mistake.

Why not order from a dealer that will give you a guaranteed trade value that will be honored when the new car comes in? That's what I did. I negotiated the deal in May (including the trade) and took delivery of my '15 in mid-September. They gave me a great deal on the '15 and over book on my trade. I told them I'd give them my trade as soon as my order hit event code 2000 (figured it was the least I could do) but they didn't even take me up on that.

Really? I've never heard of any dealer doing anything like this except for a couple deals that went upside down when the dealer decided, once the new car came in, that the trade in had some issues he wasn't aware of or otherwise tried to get more money out of the buyer.

I'd like to meet such a dealer if you'd care to PM me. I'm kind of losing interest in this whole idea anyway.I admit when I first saw Walter's I found it stunning. Now that I've seen them in various colors and options, I'm not so sure. Would like to drive one though, sometime.
