Hey Vicki.... The North Cascade Highway is a very nicely paved 2 lane highway featuring all the twists and turns any Vette driver would enjoy. It's got all of the scenery to keep a photographer happy and busy for a long time and it's one of my favorite roads I've ever driven.
3 summers ago, some of us went over to Winthrop in 2 groups; a fast group and a faster group. I'll never forget it. I'm not sure I'd want to do that again because looking back, we would have been easy-pickins for any state patrol in the vicinity. Lucky for us, none were around that day and we completed the trip with no incidents.
For the record, the fast group approached speeds of 55 mph and the faster group may have gone over 60 a time or two.

Really, "GRAVEL"? The North Cascade Hwy is one of the most maintained and scenic paved roads over the Cascade Rock Pile.
Years ago when I rode fast sport bikes I joined a large group making a trip over to Winthrop and back from the west side. Some group in Winthrop fixed our group of approx. 100 riders a wonderful lunch at the Red Barn in Winthrop as part of our $8.00 entrance fee which included two free t-shirts from the sponsoring MC Dealership. On the way over one in the group got stopped doing 160 mph. On our way home 3 of us were hitting 140 mph. That was back when I was young and fearless. Now I use 4 wheels.
Be sure and put the 2 night GTG in Winthrop the weekend of Sept. 11th-13th, 2015 on your calendars. Great local car show with rigs attending from all over WA, OR and ID.

Make your reservations now as rooms for this weekend fill up fast once everyone comes out of winter hibernation. Some even reserve their lodging for next year when they check in for this years get together.
