Can't register salvage title car?
Hey,
I recently moved to Seattle from Ontario, Canada. I brought my 2005 C6 corvette with me and it turns out I can't get it registered here because it has a salvage title and apparently GM will not write a letter saying that my car meets emissions or something along those lines, which means I can't import it.
What are my options? Do I have to bring it back to Canada or is there some way I can register my car here?
Thanks!

A long time ago I bought a salvaged vehicle from out of state and tried to bring it into Wa. They wouldn't register it unless it was inspected by Wa State (police). So I made an appointment with State Police near Eastgate, and after they inspected it, and it passed, they gave me a certificate that I could take to DMV to get it licensed. State police where they do the inspection is typically booked up and may take several months before they schedule you for the appointment.
Good luck...

Did you talk directly with the Department of Licensing in Olympia or just some local contract licensing office? Read thru this DOL web page. You can also call the DOL at (360) 902-3770 and ask what it is you need to do.
You will have to have the car emissions tested.

Have you checked for EPA/DOT decals? Was it sold new in Canada?

It was sold new in Canada, but there are no EPA stickers in the engine bay or anywhere else on the car that I can find.
apparently in February of this year the dot issued a memorandum that basically stated that you can't import salvage vehicles from Canada... I've been told I need to call the DOT directly to see what they can do. It just seems so crazy to me that there is literally no way for me to import a salvage vechicle from Canada. The is literally nothing wrong with my car.

Might want to read this US Customs page On that page, look at the two .pdf forms listed under "File Attachments".
All Corvettes are made in the USA and I would expect that they would conform to all US EPA requirements and current motor vehicle standards.
Corvettes that were built for export would have one or more specific RPO codes on the Service Parts Identification sticker. Look for:
V73 - Vehicle Statement - USA/Canada
Z49 - Modifications Canadian base equipment
FE9 - Federal Emissions Certificate

So I've tried pretty much everything I can think of and it looks like there is no way for me to import my car I'm going to get it ready to sell and then sell it back in Canada.
