Default Track Night in America 2017 Schedule41

I know some members were interested in hearing about SCCA's Track Night in America and they just recently released their schedule for this year.

Here's the scheduled dates:
Pacific Raceways:
May 26
July 5
August 30

The Ridge Motorsports Park:
May 17
June 8

July 27
August 10
September 13

Portland International Raceway:
April 14
May 19
June 9

June 30
August 11
September 15

Some basics:
  • $150
  • Three 20 minute sessions with coaching available for Novice Group
  • No SCCA membership is required
  • All you need is a steerable car (No race cars essentially) and a helmet
  • Gates open at 3 and the track day is done by about 8 (Gates close a 9)
I've been to 2 TNiA events as a photographer and I can easily say these are quality track days that are well put together. It doesn't matter if you've never been around a track before, I'm positive you'll absolutely love it. Its also a great way to hang out and speak with other like minded people who share the same passion.

If anyone needs more information, feel free to check out their website:

Nix on Pacific, until they repave it. No one mentioned high HP cars should roll through the corner where I lost it. Big fubar on them......

I'm wondering if anyone has complained to them. Last time out there, my buddy with a Cayman GT4 said the track was pretty bad in quite a few places.

How's recovery going?

You may never track that raceway again in that case. I started there in 1964 (drags) and the place has had less maintenance and upgrades than almost any other track still operating that comes to mind. This, in spite of all the planning over the years to make it FIA and NASCAR compliant etc.
I'll be surprised if developers don't end up planting homes on it one day.

Actually all Doctors called me their wonder patient cause I healed so fast. I made sure to get my heart rate up every day, that speeds up nutrients going into the wounded areas, and they agreed that was a good thing to do. Even my PT person was amazed and I only had to see her 3 times....

Update: The May 17 track day at Pacific Raceways has been moved to The Ridge Motorsports Park. The original post is updated with the current schedule. I will try to update the schedule weekly if any other changes are made.

I'm not sure if the house in this picture is a nearby neighborhood, I doubt it though because If I remember correctly, it's the only one on the track property.

Also, since when have we not been able to upload larger image files? I had to screenshot this from my phone to post it.

Thank you for this notice....

So just so I'm sure, this is a place where I can take my car to triple digits and not worry about going to jail and having it confiscated or having my license suspended? If that's the case, I'll be in Shelton in August and September.

Hope to see you out there!

One quick tip (and this is for anyone actually): If you don't have a helmet, I would highly suggest getting one ahead of time since I'm not sure if tracks have helmets for rental. You can purchase one with registration for a track day (The ones they offer are about half off if you order through the track day registration actually). I would probably just go that route as it will save money in the long run.

Do you know if the half-price on the helmets, when ordering in the registration process, applies to current registration for this year?

I'm glad you asked actually since the helmet partnership changed this year (I just discovered that this morning actually). This year, you can still order a helmet with registration for roughly half price, except this year its a Black Armor helmet rather than a Bell helmet.

There's a carbon fiber and regular version of an open face and full face helmet, but I would probably just go with the regular version.

I'll be at the April 14th event at PIR. I'm sure I'll do some of the others too. Can't wait to exercise my poor old Z! I think I'll like the half day format. Leave work a bit early, go play, be back home by bedtime!

Nice! I thought about driving down for that one to do photography at too, but it's a day before my birthday and I don't feel like 6 hours of driving the night before.
