Now if the owner of the Vette had taken one space only, especially away from others and the guy in the truck made a point of parking obscenely close to the Vette then I would agree.

I only take one spot and it's almost always on an end and usually the farthest away too.
I remember this pic/story from several years ago, the vette took the two closest spots to the restaurant's entrance and totally deserved the inconvenience and butt hurt that the jeep guy was able to give him, in my opinion.

Well if you drive your car like a f$%&#ng *****, then you obviosuly don't worry about what's gonna happen to your car. I park my car as close to the front of lots as possible. I have known 3 people with nice cars, that thought parking in the back of the grocery store parking lot was a good idea; one of them was hit by a boat on a trailer, being hauled by an RV, and both the others were broken into, smash and grab style. I try to find spots next to planters, just to cut down on the number of doors around me, but I also avoid particularly shitty looking cars as well. I'm not parking MY pride and joy, next to a person who clearly doesn't care about their car.
You gotta remember, we are ALL very lucky to be able to afford such nice things, like our Vettes, because most people can't. If you drive around like you've got special privileges, you are gonna see what the public has to say about it.

I do try to park out away from the densely parked cars unless it's Costco where most of their parking lines are spaced well apart to allow me to extend my door out so I can get in and out easier.
Often I will pull in next to the curb so I will leave more room on the passenger side to reduce the risk of someone else scratching/denting my car. I have enough dings and cracks that I have strategically placed and I don't want them confused with others in random areas of the body.

^ haha! Back when I was a high school kid, I lived where curb side gutters were 12" wide by 12" deep. School kids (no not me, never...??!!) used to lift up VW's and place them with right side wheels on right side of gutter and left wheels on left side of gutter! Darn kids....!

I park in the back on the lot
I parked on a side lot at Costco. No one around. I was in Costco for 10 minutes and these 2 knuckle heads couldn't resist parking next to me.

I had a Pantera long ago. Used to park it as far away in a lot as I could but usually had a car or two next to it when I came out and sometimes accompanied finger prints on the windows.

Notice that happened in either NY or north Joisey
(of course it did, exactly what I expect there!)

It's sometimes difficult to park your car with complete assurance it's not going to be messed with. Some of the examples above just encourage mayhem with some cretins.
Many times there is not a ready solution, but whichever car I'm driving, I look for small cars and park on their right side.Especially four doors - which genrally have shorter doors than two-doors. No guarantee the driver came alone but if no other solution... If possible,
Mini-vans scare me, but I always try to park on the sliding door side, for obvious reasons.
Park, if you can at the last spot in the row.
If you're with your spouse who needs to get something at the Mall, drop her off (or him, I suppose) and drive around (or remain in the car until they reappear or call on their cell phone). A little fuel isn't a big deal compared to a dent or a big scratch.
I'm not sure there is a perfect solution other than don't park at all or take the other car (unless the Corvette IS your other car.) It might not be a good idea to display a bumper sticker that reads? "Nike the Gay Baby Whales".
Considering this is a Corvette Forum, I'm surprised not all of you haven't already figured it out, how to park.
I thought I had a pretty good plan when I had a Porsche 911, Then some cretin decided to put out his cigarette on my windshield. Took me half-an-hour to straighten out so I could get it relit.
