Insurance Rate Increase
I just received a call from my insurance agent to let me know my rates went up nearly 40%. Not sure if that includes my homeowners', but we discussed only auto insurance so I presume not.
Saw on the news the other night that the car license tabs now are based on the original value of the car and no longer the depreciated value. Worse, it seems that the increase, based on whatever means is owing to the RTA taxes and the proposition the voters approved last election.
They're forcing us elderly pensioners to move out of the county.
If this continues they will figure out how to tax the homeless - and then, since they can't pay, they will probably raise my property taxes t reflect a view property just because one of my trees blew over in the last storm.
AAARRRRGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!

I had read that insurance rates can go up if you were involved in an accident event though you were declared not at fault. Guess insurance companies don't like paying claims even if the other party to an accident has insurance and they pay your damages.
As far as the new license fees, that apparently applies only to vehicles registered in King Pierce, and Snohomish counties and the whole deal is based on the money going to be needed for Sound Transit. That's the insane boondoggle that will have people paying now and some won't see Sound Transit service until 2040
Whoever in DOL came up with formula for figuring out the fees based on the original value should be called on the carpet for that. In fact, there are at least two bills introduced in the Legislature to fix that "formula". I would not be surprised to hear soon that DOL will "roll back" the formula and change the tab fee percentages.

Even though I live in King County (Black Diamond) I am fortunately exempt from the RTA tax on my tabs for now as well as emissions.
I found this on the web if anyone is interested: http://rtamaps2.soundtransit.org/st_determineaddress.html?_ga=1.123793740 .737421586.1488382832"]http://rtamaps2.soundtransit.org"

I guess I will be paying a lot extra, with licenses on 3 Corvettes and the Chrysler for a service I will never use, as I will be dead before it ever comes to the areas down here. Yippee!!!!
My 1991 license expires in March, so it gets the new fees. The license went from $ 63.75 last year to $ 104.75 this year.

Paying for regional transit
Sound Transit is funded by a combination of local taxes, federal grants, fares, interest earnings and miscellaneous revenues. Local taxes make up just over half of Sound Transit's total funding. In 1996, 2008 and 2016, voters within the RTA district approved tax increases to build and operate the regional mass transit system. These taxes are assessed only within the Sound Transit district:
Tax
Total Imposed/Levied*
Sales & Use
1.4% ($0.14 on a $10 taxable purchase)
MVET (Car tab tax)
1.1% ($110 annually for each $10,000 of depreciated vehicle value)
Property Tax
$0.25 annually per $1,000 of assessed valuation ($100 annually on a $400,000 house)
Rental car sales tax
0.8 percent ($0.80 on a $100 car rental)
* These rates include tax increases to fund expanded transit approved by regional voters in November 2016: an additional 0.5 percent sales and use tax effective April 1, 2017; an additional 0.8 percent Motor Vehicle Excise Tax (MVET, or car tabs) beginning March 1, 2017, with new and renewal vehicle registrations; and a new property tax of $0.25 per $1,000 of assessed valuation beginning January 1, 2017. An additional rental car increase of up to 1.372 percent ($1.37 on a $100 car rental) can be authorized by the Sound Transit Board in the future.

Probably worth another look though. Thanks
Are you planning to bring the "Bonnie and Clyde Special" T-Bird to Exotics at Redmond town center? Might be a good way to find out if it's cooler than a Corvette.

The NCM has policies that are good for 6000 miles per year. Do you put that many miles on the 1 of 42 car?
We all know that the 1962 Thunderbird would be allowed into the show with no questions asked, whereas regular Corvettes (non Z06 or ZR1) are not allowed in anymore, as they are just average regular, dull, boring cars that one sees everywhere.
So YES, the Thunderbird is definitely way cooler that a Corvette.

Adam Boca was at the Corvette and High Performance Meet on February 10th and 11th. That would have been a great time to stop by and visit with him.

My last renewal cover sheet starts out on the first sentence "The NCM Insurance Agency is pleased to provide you with a renewal for your collector vehicle insurance policy through a member company of American Modern Home Insurance Group (A+ Rated)"

I called NCM ((887)678-7626) about 18 months ago for insurance on my 16 Z06. I drive it less than 5000 miles per year and Bobbie Jo hooked me up. She acted as my agent and ran it through an intermediary company that is licensed to sell it in Washington State (American Modern Insurance Group).
