what resin to use
I've done lots of fiberglass work, but never on a corvette. For years Ive been working on body kits and cars most of the people here probably hate (), and I have always used the bondo brand resin and mat that you can grab at any autozone/advance. Ive been hearing that this kind of resin doesnt work for the vettes, so I am ready to start some body work and need to know for sure what to use.
I see this on zip:

Im working on a 1972, would that work or is there something even better I need to look into? Also, I always used bondo brand filler and glazing putty. Would those still be ok to use on top of everything, or should I look into something else for that as well?

Oh yah, i remembered one more question! Are the bonding strips just strips of fiberglass that are molded to fit the shape they are backing?
Sorry about the newb questions, but I care about doing things right.

Your brand of resin will work fine on a `72. There are some early type SMC panels on the `72, but in this case the resin is acceptable, maybe not optimal. The later SMCs are not compatible with old polyester resins and shouldn't be used on them.
