Eastwood Concours HVLP spray gun ONLY 4CFM???
http://www.eastwood.com/review/produ.../category/211/
Does anyone have any experience with this gun? I understand that airflow is what aids in atomization of the paint, and I thought orange peel could be caused with a lower than recommended CFM flow... I know this gun is designed for 4 cfm, but is that really enough?
I am debating on this gun or something else..
I will be running my craftsman 33gal 6.3CFM(@40PSI) which this gun would work with.
I also have a T coupler and extra hose to hook up my Harbor freight 21gal (?7CFM?@40psi)
Together that would give me ~13.3CFM total to work with which should run most guns I have looked at, but I figured I should stay below this so that I do not risk inadequate air supply.
If you do not recommend the eastwood gun, what would you recommend given my current equipment capabilities?
I am a first timer, and will be practicing on a junk hood(many times), my brothers S-10(Black Metallic), and my buddy's 75 vette(Yellow Lacqure) before I Spray mine (undecided[blue/orange/green] metallic)... I really want an affordable gun that will aid in giving me the best results possible given my limited skills.
Thanks!

I have one but unfortunately I haven't used it yet. From what I read it is suppose to be a very good, solid gun - but not as good as some you might pay $4-500 for. I read a comparison test that said it was not quite as good at atomization of clearcoat as the highest quality guns but it was still very good. You might check in on the Eastwood forums and check out some of the experiences with it over there.

I'll go over and check that out. Thanks for the response and if you get a chance to use it sooner than I do then let us know how you like it if you wouldn't mind, thanks

I've used my Concours gun now. I'm not a spray gun expert so my opinion is pretty unimportant but I thought it worked well. I'm not sure about the 4 cfm rating though. It seemed to use quite a bit of air to keep it at or above 30 psi at the gun. I used it for single stage PPG paint. I suspect it didn't automize the paint as well as a more expensive gun would with a higher air demand.

iwata was one of the first low cfm guns at 9.5 . it's also 600 dollar. for an hvlp gun you need 100 psi at the wall to feed these guns . 3hp comp just wont cut it .

Don't be pissed at me - I said years ago it seemed to use quite a bit of air to keep it at 30 psi - meaning more than the 4 cfm they claimed. I suspect Eastwood has admitted this now too and corrected their advertising to change 4 cfm to 6.5 cfm in recognition of this.
