So body shop says hood needs replacing which I figured..going to Geico claim center tuesday where they said they will cut me a check on the spot..I'm in NY..what is a fair amount to do this? hoods run about 1500.00 to 1800.00 don't know about all the labor though..opinions? I can refuse the payment and go through my insurance which is Hagarty..

You should get an estimate before you do anything else. A pic of the damage would be nice, because their are people who can re-fiberglass the hood if it's not too bad.

1400-1500 sounds like way too much for a hood. You should be able to find a used hood somewhere for half that price, either way they have to re-paint it anyways.

This can be costly, but if you take your time and do your research it can end up saving you a lot of money.
