Default Adding another tank in line to compressor tank

Would I be accomplishing anything if I connect a 10 gallon tank in-line to my compressor which has a 12 gallon tank? Would my compressor cycle any more or less - or would it stay the same? Any effect on cfm airflow? Thanks

a little more volume but it will disappear fast. the size of a tank equates to the size of the pump.

Think of it like this. You have storage tank the size of a 55 gallon drum...and a compressor that has a piston the diameter of a soda can....then you get the idea of hooking up an 1000 gallon tank to it because it has SOOOOO much more air space....which is correct....but it makes you compressor run longer....and as 'porch dog' stated...the pressure would drop rather quickly....and thus makes you compressor run longer to fill up the added tank

A larger compressor is what is often needed...because if you small compressor is running A LOT...it is getting hot and thus your air is HOT and thus all the 'frappis' you need to cool down the air so you can remove the moisture so you do not have it spitting water on your paint job when painting.

Thanks for the advice. I think the Lowes 3.7 hp with a 60 gallon tank is a simple and easy answer for me with only 2 major projects to do.
