Default C4 Front Fascia Alighnment

On my 1990 C4 corvette I have noticed the front fascia moving more and more to the drivers side, I decided it was time to look in to it and found the bolts starting to loosen that hold the impact bumber on. I removed the front fascia and I am going to try and remove the wrinkles in the facia well it is off and put on a new front air dam. The question is should I try to alighn it with the fascia on or off and will I be able to get to those nuts that hold the impact bumber on when I put the fascia back on. Thanks For any help.

The nuts that hold the impact bar to the front frame tie bar are FUN to get to. The upper nuts are not so bad...but the bottom ones are quite FUN....but you can get to them.

I would get the bumper cover back on and then adjust. Just to let you know you can spend a lot of time on this. This may seem easy and simple...but to get it RIGHT...it can take hours and hours.

Glad to be of some assistance...and TRUST ME...be patient. Getting these covers right can make anyone get 'ticked-off'. I sometimes have to walk away from it due to repeating the process numerous times and still not at the point where I am happy with it. Getting that gap across the front SPOT-ON is a feat.

Tomorrow I will give it a try, had to run out for some new blind nuts and a can of rust converter, I might as well do some touching up on all the little parts well the fascia is off.

I am facing this same challenge after a hit and runner clipped the corner. I read the FSM on removing the cover and after inspecting all that I needed to remove I opted for a body shop to do the job. I was quoted $250 to remove and realign it so I think I'm going that route.

I just finished mine, $250.00 sounds like a good deal, it was a lot of work to get it off and lined up I also replaced my air deflector and removed most of the wrinkles I am on a tight budget and I like doing all my work my self anyway. I am going to pop for a new paint job in a couple of years when I do I prefer to leave the body and paint to the pro's.

All i can 'say' is I hope who ever does it for the $250. Actually does it correctly. I can not tell you on how many 1984-1996 Corvettes I get in that have be 'touched' by someone that I find missing screws ( A lot!)...loose nuts....wrong screws in areas that take a specific fasteners...retainers that were not used...wiring harness retainers that hold the connectors broken or not re-installed correctly and the list goes on and on.
