Basically ALL chemical strippers will damage the fiberglass to some extent if left unattended.

The stripper I use is stout and works fast...and I know how to use it. You can get some Captain Lee's and use it..... but...... when I give advice or suggestions when it comes to using chemical stripper......there is a lot more than using the stripper than you may think. I do not know much about what you are doing....but it kinda makes a big difference so you do not use a product...and it struggles to work... and have a problem. due to multiple application of the chemical stripper that was applied incorrectly.

The type of paint on the car has lot to do with it.
