84 with bare fiberglass spots. What to put on first?
When stripping my 84 it became apparent that some of it was stopped to bare glass. What should go down first, is there a primer that will do well on bare smc?
Thanks

I would use an epoxy primer.

Not telling you how to do anything...but when I strip a panel....99.999% of the time I make sure I remove all products previously applied. This can often times reduce the chance of solvent sensitivity in previously applied product(s) and not having to worry if what you left on the panel could actually come off later....and then....you are doing it all over again.

That sounds good. The hood is going to be easy to strip. I think someone already took it down to glass on most of it.
For the low spots can I fill in with VPA and then epoxy primer over?
Thanks,
Shawn

C4 Fiber Repair
Hello, I have a 1987 corvette and actually did this repair my self in two areas. I simply built up primer, a few coats, let it dry, a few more, Sand, Dry, Sand... until it was smooth with the original paint, then i painted it. It inst perfect as it was tough to match the new paint to the original even though i did purchase my paint from Sherman Williams. Good luck, its a fun job and a good start to learning to paint!
