Default spot gelcoat possible?

I need to fix this old repair (previous owner did). After I fix this fender and the seam can I gel coat just this fender for now and gel coat sections as I get them done or do I have to shoot the entire car at once.

I honestly do not think that you can gelcoat it. I do not think that this Corvette has the press-molded panels..and are rather the SMC design that came later.

What year is the car? I can not go off of screen names.

And I really need to see a photo of the panel prepped all the way down...so I can see what the panel looks like....but from what I can 'try' to pick up on...this panel is NOT the early press-molded panels....but it is hard to tell...because I can ALMOST convince myself that I can see the fiber structure in your first photo in the gash. BUT I can not confirm this.

the car is a 1971. I don't know how to tell what kind of panels it has.

You need to get the panel striped down so no sprayed product is on it.

Light gray color that can have a marble effect is what we will call SMC....where you might see dark gray streaks in the panel.

A dark panel...almost back in color where you can see a swirling structure of the actual fibers of the fiberglass is the pres-molded polyester panels.

Depending on if you plan on purchasing the paint gun that will allow you to spray it...I would use a polyester primer.
