Door gap fix?
Getting ready for paint but need to fix drivers door gap at front, beltline and up.Is it best to glass it on the fender or door? Its a 76 but the door is off an 80 and the curve on the door seems diff than the orginal76.Any pics on this procedure? Thanks

I also forgot to mention the drivers fender has been replaced from a 78 so the two together are causing the problem.

PHOTO of this problem IS REQUIRED.
Vette Panel Adhesive (VPA) can be used ...but....need to see it before confirming it being able to be used in this specific repair.

Thanks for the photo...but for what it is worth..because it is a great photo...taking another one from a few feet back so I can see the whole picture would also be helpful.
It appears from the photo that you are only needing to build out approximately 1/8"...which is NOT a problem.
VPA will do this without any concerns.
You WILL need to get that yellow paint and any other primers OFF the panel before you do this. because you are building out on the front clip and NOT the door. And this is I can only assume that they DID NOT sand back on the door edge. You need to actually look at this area and verify that the steel inner structure of the door frame is actually set back from the edge of the door outer panel.
If you wan to know my method of repairing this....you will need to PM me so I can get you my shop number and we can talk. Typing out the procedure is something that I am not going to do..it would take WAY too long ...versus a phone call will not.
There is going to be a very HIGH probability that the door will have to come back off. I can explain why...... if and when we talk.

I gotta be careful...some of you guys take what I say and do such a good job...it could put me right out of business.
I assume because you got it completed....was my verbal tutorial on what you needed to do.... make sense once you got started??

You explained it very well. It was actually easier than I thought it would be!Just time consuming.Removing an upper door hinge shim was way harder! Thanks again DUB!

I wished it was that easy. The top of the gap was tight so the door wasn't going anywhere. The fender and door I had to replace(different yrs) due to crash and the lines just didn't match good. Also no drastic glass work there all VPA . Like I stated earlier ,w/DUB's instruction it was pretty easy.
