question on original paint for C3's
On the early C3's .. when painted with acrylic lacquer metallic paint... were these cars buffed out?
It seems unlikely the lacquer would come out glossy right after spraying..And if buffed.. wouldn't that mess up the consistency of the metallic??
Thanks for clarifying this for me.
Just curious.

Lacquer can come out rather glossy when painted....but I doubt the factory buffed anything.
The term 'buffed' can be taken several ways...because just because a 'buffer' is being used...it depends on what product is being applied and the type of pad used when 'buffing'. A rough cutting compound and wool pad does NOT always need to be used to make paint shine.
And YES...you are correct...it CAN BE a tricky and dangerous process when buffing a metallic paint that is NOT clear coated. I have done it...but it takes patience and WATCHING what you are doing.
