Default Paint/Body Any "How to" forum shared docs???

Hello, am looking for some guidance or a "How to" sand off old paint and then prep and repaint guide. And/or how to work with gel coat. Am figuring this is a frequently asked question is there a shared write up among the forum?

Thanks

I personally have not posted anything like this. I do on some products and 'how to' fix this or that.

What you are asking is not so 'cut and dry'. Need to know what year you have and IF you plan on starting your own thread...THAT is where we can coem in and advise you in what to do with any issue you have.

Having a write up on how to sand your Corvette is kinda dangerous. There can be many variables and if the person reading the text does not comprehend what is written...they can actually do much more damage to the body that they might not be aware of.

There are many methods of removing paint but a lot of it hinges on the type of paint, how thick it is and other factors.....so....sanding is NOT always the method to do this.

DUB thanks, I will consider starting a separate thread, I am not working on the entire car only a specific area (door jambs 1969 original paint).

Do you have any basics on working with gelcoats vs. metal?

Vette DD, Yes under Paint/Body but I only saw 5 and they were not on this topic. I am sure their are threads but I am not finding basic info threads... yet.

Thanks

I would still start a thread....that way it can add inforoation to help others.

YES...I mainly work on Corvettes...but I also have restored numerous metal cars also.

Thanks
So...if you start a thread so I can see what you have going on...I can then give advice that would directly apply to your situation instead of me typing out information that I do not know what direction the repair is heading in.....so I am not wasting my time typing.

yes. I take a few steps forward,...and then have to stop and male sure it is worthy....then either I re-do it...or get to the next thing on the list.

If it was just written text I would have been done along time ago...but I am trying to have as many photos as possible in certain repairs.
