Default New PB- 12.OH SO Close

Went to a local small town track in Evadale here in southeast,Tx. They were hosting a True 10.5" Tire 1/8th mile Index Racing Event. It was not the greatest night for Test-N-Tune though due to the very short spans in between rounds of the Index racers.

We finally got a break from the hot weather here, only in the mid to lower 60s last night but thats way better than 90s I wanted to try and make a few passes if possible to get some new times.

Car is a 2002 ZO6 stock except for a Haltech CAI and 275-40-17" DRs. I bought the car back in June of this year and had only made two passes with it back on July 5th that was in the 12.30 range in 90 deg heat with about +1700 ft DA.

Last night was about 65 deg with roughly +300 ft DA, so the air was much better. Made three passes all together. Two were acceptable passes and the first was a throw away due to the starters having trouble with the lights and not giving times.

New PB
RT- .5453
60'- 1.797
330'- 5.0783
1/8th- 7.7821 @ 90.00mph
1/4- 12.0675 @ 114.94mph

Launched at 4000 rpm with a quick controlled release and shifted at 6300 rpms with quick lift shifts. Race weight was probably around 3375 or so with 3/8 tank fuel and my 280lb butt. Definantly a 11 sec car in cool air and aggressive driving. I was satisfied in that it was only my 5th pass in the car since buying it. I'll get that 11 sec slip my next time out hopefully.

Congrats. You'll be in the 11's soon. You may want to shift just before the limiter to maximize the car's potential. Since the 1-2 lags in our cars, 6300 is good, but the 2-3 and 3-4 can be at 6500.
Good luck.

Thanks guys, I was happy with those runs. But, I know the car has more in it for sure. With a little better launch and more aggressive driving I have no doubt the car will run 11.80-11.90s.

We had a cool front come through today and the temps are gonna be cooler again. I think I will drive over to Houston Raceway Park on Friday evening and make a few passes. HRP is consistantly a better track than where I ran last weekend and the DA should be a little better also. Really hoping to get that high 11 sec time slip before I start modding the car.

I have some GTP stage 2 LS6 heads, cam, and some long tubes & x-pipe to put on the car. Have just been holding out for some good stockish times.
