Default How much gear for a bolt-on?

What's the most gear you would put in with a stock cam to not run out of engine in the 1/4? 3.73? 3.90? I currently have 3.15s (stock) and will put new gears in when my Yank PT4000 gets installed. Building a bolt-on car and wanting to go as quickly as possible.

Thanks!

Is that the 10.5" TC ?
i just sold my Pro3600 to get the smaller 9.5" SS3600. Dave at Yank said the larger converter was for 600-1200hp motors and slowing me down big time.

To be honest, I'm not sure. They go on sale next Friday for 10% off for tax season. I've spoken with him before and he recommended a PT vs. a SS (which I've read is an amazing converter) because I had no intention of ever using nitrous and the shift extensions were more suitable for a bolt-on car. Putting something together to run IHRA Stock Eliminator (Pure Stock C/PS).

I stand corrected!

Dennis, I see you have wandered away from the C6 section once again. I believe, deep down, you have C5 in your blood and just can't seem to admit it to yourself.

let it go Dennis ... we'll never be able to keep up with you and you know it... just let it go, I have

What are your plans for the new year?

Maybe we'll run heads-up this year and see what happens on the same day/air/track prep. I promise I won't spray you!

Any trips to MIR in the future for you?

Ok ... so what would the rpm's be in the traps on a stock height wheel in the 1/4 mile with 3.90's? Does the rev limiter need bumped to work for that rpm and is the stock LS1 still making power there and pulling?

Rons car is very light, he ran in very good air and i think with a 275x40x17 hes ran the best time and a very good 60 ft with a 4000 converter and didnt hit the rev limiter, i dont no if he raised it, but with that 60 ft da and light he would reach max rpm faster, and he didnt, so you will be fine

C'mon Dennis, between you and me buddy, isn't there even this small part of you that wants to take him?

You guys put me on the bench so I'm rooting for you, my friend!

Tell me about this new converter ~ ~ how does it work best?

of course there is, but like i said i will still be happy for Norm and you dont have to be on the bench i would be happy for you too, because thats what drives me to go faster, i love it when i get beatthats when my wife gives me the ok to spendthe converter works great better then the vig, both are 3800, the best 60 ft vig3800 with H&C lightweight battery 1.45 10.35 132 dead hook-1300-1500 yank3800 no changes except stock battery 1.34 60 ft 10.20 129.99 dead hook -800-900 the yank drives better on the street and locks or couples up sooner for better fuel mileage
