I have a "tight" 3,600 and a "loose" 4,000

a tight or loose convertor has almost nothing to do with the stall. The loose does seem to have better manners on the street but spends more time in the RPMs. matching the stall for being loose or tight has a lot to do with your 60' and how your car gets and stays in it's power band

I can take the loose convertor and put the tack on a number and each gear will "click-off" as the tack stays put on that number

At the track you have to be careful when doing a burnout (sticky tires) that you stay well above the stall or it'll start grabbing and do damage from one or both tires not spinning

I would go this order:

1. CAI
2. Drag Radials for 18inch rims or better still 275/40/17 drag radials maybe GTO skinnies up front
3. 3000-4000 stall converter (if you are changing cams in the future or heads and still have the bug... 4,000 is the way to go). Get tranny cooler also

Then you can go:
Long tube headers
Tune
LS6 intake
3.73 gears

I have seen several A4 LS1 cars go high 11s

The 60ft is the KEY... each .10 equals in the 60ft = .20th in the quarter. The stall and Drag Radial tires will knock you down from 2.0 to 1.7 60ft or 12.3 quarter... other items will push you to the 11s

All converters are not created equal. In simple terms, you get what you pay for.
Budget converters slip and slide all over the place. Spendy ones drive nice, stall when you need it, and couple good down track.

My A4 car is mellow, drives sweet and runs 11.0's. 10.99 best.

Wow touching 10s would be perfect. Mods?

Thanks!

As for gears change I called a lot of places here in quebec and none of them want to do it. Seems like it requires a lot of special tools.

Pretty basic setup actually.
FAST 102 intake, 90mm GM TB, AFR 205 heads, 226/230 114 cam, headers.
3600 Yank and 3.42 gears.
I found everything used here on the Forum, except the cam which is from EPS.
I tune it myself.
