243 heads

243 heads
Hey everyone,
I have a full bolt-on LS1 (lg longtubes, BB catback, cold air intake, ported ls6 intake with ported throttle body) and a mild cam with stock heads. Making 410rwhp and 383rwtq
I am swapping the heads to go with the 243 non ported due to budget and a Fast 90 intake
Should I see more power with these new additions. Talking more towards the Fast intake since I already have mine ported and what not.

It's kinda hard to say since we dont even know what motor you're running now. LS1 or 6?
Off the bat I'd say you'll probably pick up at least 25 HP.
If you're going as far as heads you may as well drop a cam in it and wake it up. If you go with a larger cam you could be looking at injectors too.
I'm sure there's a builder in your area that can give you some good direction and be able to back it up with some dyno numbers.
You should be looking at getting a tune as well.

It's LS1 and my cam is 598/600 lift around there and already have 42lb injectors Tuned. Like I said it made 410 to the wheel and 380 tq Just making sure heads will actually make a difference

Id suggest milling the heads .020 for the best gains. That way you get a almost a full point bump in compression.
I have similar mods as you and with a set of milled 243's it made 441whp on a mustang dyno.

A good valve job can really wake these heads up. Get the 243s and have a valve job done. Added to the fast, you should see some nice gains.
Best of success with your project.

Then forget the FAST for now and get the heads worked. You will get more hp from porting and milling the heads, and you can swap out the intake easily when you get more funds. Not as easy with modding the heads later

The fast intake for what you'll gain over a ported ls6 intake will be marginal at best.
Heads/cam is where the power is hiding.
Total Airflow Engineering will set you up with a fair price.

Milling is $65. Its hard to beat 3-4%hp gain for $65 lol.
Their full head package is about what you'd pay for a fast set up.

Nice numbers for stock 241 heads! Most ive seen don't quite make that much. Infact, my 01ZO6 when I still had the LS6 made 412/380. Even some of the others were in the low 42X range in hp. The only cars ive seen make much more than that WITHOUT head work was something along the lines of an MS4 cam.
