Default tips for not pushing through brakes

I've got a 97 with a 76mm precision, Neal chance 3k stall, lnc 2000, built 4l60, 3.42 rear, 15" drag pack.

I'm trying to get more out of the converter on the footbrake, in 1st I can get to about 2400 rpm, with out the 2 step it won't build any boost and starts pushing.

If I put the car in 2nd gear and spool up with no 2 step, I get to about 7psi in 2-3 seconds.

I'm hoping there is a way to get the car to sit still in 1st so I can get a nice launch. Does anyone have any advice?

One idea I have is to put really aggressive road course pads on the rear, that way when the burnout heats them up they will have a lot of initial bite.

I've got an issue building boost on the foot brake on my front mount turbo setup. I can foot brake the car to 2800 rpm's on the 2 step and I couldn't build any boost. Last week my tuner adjusted my tune on the 2 step but was only able to get about 2lbs of boost built. I spoke with a tech guy from Hawk pads about getting a pad that would provide me with more clamping force to hold the car but he said a pad with that much clamping force doesn't exist. I could really use a converter that I could 2 step to 3300-3400 rpm's.

If you can build 7lbs in 2nd gear without the 2 step, have you tried putting the trans into 3 directly before launching?

Take a look at the Carbotech AX6 brake pad. If interested let me know.

Carbotech™ AX6™

The AX6™ is specifically engineered for Autocross applications. A high torque brake compound delivering reliable and consistent performance over a very wide operating temperature range of 50°F to 1000°F + (10°C to 537°C+). The advanced compound matrix provides an excellent initial bite, high coefficient of friction at lower temperatures along with very progressive brake modulation and release characteristics. Many drivers use the AX6™ for street driving as well, even though Carbotech™ doesn't recommend street driving with AX6™ due to possible elevated levels of dust and noise. AX6™ is NOT recommended as a race compound in most applications.

I tried foot braking my car on the 2 step last night in 2nd gear and I could only get 2lbs of boost. That's the same level as in 3rd gear.

Adam, do you think that is the best pad to try. I have no idea what pads are on the car now, I haven't changed them while I owned the car. I'm willing to try it, either way it should help with having new pads.

Try turning your 2 step off and trying again, you are limiting your self to the same rpm as first so it won't change anything.

I'll give that a try. I'm attempting to avoid getting over aggressive with the ramp rate in my boost controller. But I guess I could ramp it in very quick in the 1st 2 seconds then build in another stage at a lower ramp rate. Either way I can only foot brake the car to 2800 rpm's.

I believe so because of the high initial torque.

Do you push through the brakes at 2800?

No, 2800 is the highest rpm I can go before I start to push through the brakes. IDK if I want to send the converter back to PTC to have it loosened more on the bottom end. I'm not certain if a looser converter will effect daily drive ability. I'd really like it to foot brake to 3500 and keep its current street manners.

Did you try putting the car in 2 with no 2step yet?

Rear AX6 is $140.60 Please call me at 216-780-8825 to order or you can order direct here http://ampdautosport.com/brake-pads/corvette use promo code z28 at check out. I recommend going with the pre-bed version its an extra $20 but well worth it. This way you can put them on and go with out messing around with bedding.

Yes, made no difference. Tires break loose at 2900 rpm's. Maybe one day I'll get some heat in them and try. I've got some VHT.
