Sounds about right.

I had a 99 FRC a while back that put down 311rwhp with just the air filter zip tie mod and no tune.

That's right in the area for a street tune and a 6 speed you get a Lil more. Nice mods. Texas speed is the shiznit

I wished I would have got a base line done before doing my mods.

324/331 here with Calloway Honker CAI and B&B Tri-flow cat back and tune by Livernois Motorsports.

311/325 was with the above mods but before tune.

Don't have a true stock baseline.

'97 w/MN6.

no that's low. Headers and exhaust and a tune should gain you at least 25-30hp above baseline. Your baseline with the 6mt should be 295-305rwhp... most C5's with Headers are in the 330-335rwhp range. So you are a bit low IMO.

im expecting to make 325rwhp with just Intake and axleback this spring.

Could have been been a low reading dyno you were on??

I bet a cold air setup would help quite a bit. I was at 325/335 with just a cold air and ti cat back and tune. Mine is an 01 so it had the LS6 intake. Of course every dyno is different.

Dyno numbers are just that, NUMBERS... Don't get too hung up on them. A dyno is a tuning device, use the same Dyno for any other modifications you might make in the future and then you can have a good idea of how much more power you have gained from the mods. For example, my car read 418 rwhp but ran a 10.22 1/4 mile at 130 mph. Every body and their brother seems to have bigger numbers and run a lot slower times and don't mph anywhere close to that.

If you're happy with the way your car runs, that's what really matters.

^^^ Do you agree that a gain of 13 hp from Long tubes, full exhaust and a dyno tune is correct? I agree with you on the dyno numbers are just numbers part... but he has a no mod, stock benchmark of 307rwhp which is healthy. Then adds headers, and full exhaust and a customer tune and gains 13rwhp? That's nuts. The tune has to be all wrong, or something is up. He should have gained in the ballpark of 20-25rwhp.

I'm pretty sure I can find close to 10rwhp from a tune only on an LS1.

Sure but imho the folks that have invested money into a Dyno usually know what they are doing. Mine read 418 and then he tweaked it then dialed in the vacuum pump and ended up at 441, net gain 23 rwhp just from a retune, that motor leaned out and cracked #7 piston so my gain was nothing but headaches and thousands of dollars to swap the parts into a new LS1 short block. My point is maybe the tuner was keeping things conservative (I don't know) .
I'm gonna push mine to get a bit more again and try to still be conservative enough for it to last a long time. I'm also looking to try to run a single digit 1/4 with a 346 Ci motor NA. Only this time the Pistons should handle it a little better then the oem fly cut Pistons

The stock air box could also be the bottle neck with it but the tuner tuned what was there, not trying to open up the flow. I don't have any idea but could very well be a bottleneck somewhere

Good info in this thread. Not having at least 18 from headers and a tune is a heart breaker. I picked up that much from a catch can and hooking up my PCV properly.

Seems like the gains are low to me, but if you are running the stock tune the gains may be smaller if the AFR is not correct and the timing is being pulled due to knock. I would expect that if you had a tune performed you would see gains in the 25HP to 30 HP range.

As others have said that is low for the mods. I think my baseline was 311 then after headers, tune.exaust It was 341.. I guess a better baseline would of been a track number before and after..

Edited because I didn't read it correctly at first as Tommy said

It appears that the numbers stated above are all after the install. Basically showing the gains from the tune only. Slow it down some and read what is actually written.
