I couldn't believe my ears last night. I didn't think Obama has the cojones, but he said without equivocation that he fully supports another ban on "assault weapons". This was the death knell for democrats in '94. What do you think the results of Obama's statement will be this time?

It's not cojones, it's ideology.

Romney may not be as pro-gun as I would like, but he is head and shoulders above the communist in chief.

Why the frack are they calling my sporting rifles assault rifles? I could assault someone with a dip can if I so desired, does that make it Assault Skoal? I'm sick and tired of EVERY single AR-10/AR-15 pattern rifle being labeled as an "assault rifle".

I know, right. That's why I had to put "assault weapons" in quotes. That is just a scary moniker that our guns have been labeled with by the gun control crowd. Unless your weapon is capable of fully automatic fire it IS NOT a military style rifle.

How many people caught Obama calling the "assault rifles" automatic weapons and then Romeny having to correct him to say that owning automatic weapons was already illegal.

I had to explain that difference to my wife. An "assault rifle" is not always an automatic weapon and there are hunting rifles just as powerful, if not more powerful, than "assault" rifles.

Not illegal, just too expensive for Joe Average to get.

I caught that. also, but it makes absolutely zero difference to the brady sob sisters. And the lying pos stood up there and claimed he supported the 2A before he tap danced all the way around the rest of it.

And then said it was mostly cheap handguns responsible for all the Chicago gun violence. Isn't any kind of handgun already banned in Chicago?

Owning an automatic weapon is not always THAT expensive per se...YET.

It's the aggrivation and hassle of registration and time expended to do so. Add to it the waiting and the potential of dealing with the feds over paperwork at a moment's notice that makes it unattractive to most that can afford one.

I was glad to see Romney correct the idiots regarding "automatic" weapons though.

it wasn't about the 2nd ammend, it was about single moms.

Rommey said there are enough laws.

Obama did not commit to anything. Just let the illusion of support of the 2nd.
Had to blame handguns as a problem in Chicago.
Guess he forgot his role in the City ban when he was there.

So wake up, guns are bad for single mother families.

The thing is it was a stupid comment for Obama to make.

All the anti gun types are already voting for Obama. So the only thing it can do is turn alot of independents that are against gun control to vote for Romney.

But it is not the first stupid thing that Obama has done. It seem he is doing enough of them that Romney might win.

And this one:

In January 2007, on a conservative podcast called “The Glenn and Helen Show,” Romney said, “I have a gun of my own. I go hunting myself. I'm a member of the NRA and believe firmly in the right to bear arms.”

But Romney did not have a gun, as he acknowledged to inquiring reporters two days later. He was, technically, a member of the NRA—he had joined six months prior, paying for a lifetime membership. He admitted it was a calculated move. “I’m after the NRA’s endorsement,” he told an audience in Derry, N.H. “I’m not sure they’ll give it to me. I hope they will. I also joined because if I’m going to ask for their endorsement, they’re going to ask for mine.”
