Default Jonathan Winters, R.I.P.

First time I ever saw him was a guest spot on the 1972 "Scooby-Doo" episodes.

Great comic, never got into his "Mork & Mindy" run but heard it was great stuff with Robin Williams who grew up idolizing him.

In the '70's we hired him to do advertising (USTEl, now SPRINT).

He came to Dallas (the Akard Bldg which we owned) and did an in prov for all the employees - no charge.

Truly a good man.

RIP Jonathan

+1 You can say that again. We have no more entertainers like George Carlin, Dean Martin, Jerry Lewis, Sammy Davis Jr., Johnny Carson, Jackie Gleason, Frank Sinatra, ...well, you get the idea.

Today we have Rap "artists" that make millions singing songs with lyrics consisting of racist remarks, and foul languge, that get invited to the White House to perform.

It's all upside down these days, which makes Winters passing even more note worthy!

Genius

It's just like watching Jonathan Winters when you see Robin Williams do his thing.

(Because it just wouldn't be right to post a sad angel when you think of how many people in this world he made laugh)

It's #1 for me. I remember seeing it at the theater when it came out. It was so long it had an intermission at about the half way point.

We wouldn't have a Robin Williams (and probably many others) if we hadn't had a Jonathan Winters. Williams is the first to say that.
