Default Anti NY Safe Act/Pro 2a signs keep getting stolen. Turns out a cop is taking them!

TUrns out its on the blaze too
http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2013...blew-him-away/

This is blowing up online!

Its a long thread in NY but its shocking. This guy puts a small sign up about repealing the NY Safe Act and they keep getting stolen, then thinks maybe its issues with the law's of putting a sign up and all is good there and he's allowed.

He makes the sign harder to steal and they keep going missing. Finally he sets up a Trail Camera and harder to steal signs... turns out to be a total shocker to everyone following when its the local police department pulling up and destroying them

Thread is here
http://www.nyfirearms.com/forums/law...ign-issue.html

You gotta be logged in to see the photos but here are the incriminating ones.

You can see him kick over the sign here

Well maybe we need to take the cops guns away. NYC would then be a safer place. At least when considering some recent news stories.

You know am going to hold out until theres a response or something from the local pd because I am highly upset and I dont want to come across the wrong way, but my initial response is, that this is as irrisponsible as it gets from a police officer.

Easily grounds for termination for improper conduct and misdemeanor charges for trespassing and destruction of property.

Libs are all about free speech when the speech agrees with Nanny. Otherwise, not so much.

Hilarious.

Put the slob on trial for destruction of private property and obstruction of first amendment rights.

Wow. Pretty ballsy in broad daylight.
Possible charges: trespassing, destruction of private property, larceny of sign; plus the violation of his rights.
Since when do the Police get involved in possible code violation anyways?

http://www.city-data.com/city/Somers-New-York.html
Somers is a small, (appears to be wealthy residents) town in Westchester County. Maybe lot's of libs who commute to the city.
Also a part-time Police Dept. that could probably use some training. http://www.somersny.com/pages/somersny_police/index

Read the story earlier and I will await what the town has to say as they may have an easement. Although the town had already said the sign could stay up before the cop put his jack booted boot into it.

Let's wait, but I can guarantee you the town will say it was a "misunderstanding" and the sign can stay.

And liberals claim the slippery slope with losing your rights is nonsense. New York took away the second, then the fourth went out the window, now it looks like they don't have the first either.

Well the closer you get to NY CITY the higher percentage of liberals you get. Guess it goes for some of the cops also. Nothing will happen to him as cops most times get slaps on the wrist and it’s considered taken care of.

Now way upstate where I live most cops are more in tune with and if fact are serious gun people and most Sheriff Depts. including the Sheriff themselves are against the lunacy of NY stupid gun laws.

Dave from way upstate NY!

It's sad that one moronic city (NYC) took down an entire state (NY).

Coming soon from Houston or Austin, where the welfare and liberal thrive...

I agree. Certainly grounds for termination unless there was an ordinance violated and if so the guy putting up the signs should have been notified. No excuse for what that LEO did.

If there was an ordinance violated, a ticket or at least a warning would have been given.

This is an obvious violation of both the 1st Amendment and the 4th. This pos should be brought up on federal civil rights violation charges and made an example of. A sworn peace officer blatantly breaking the law he's supposed to uphold is inexcusable.

While I support the sign, the 2nd Amendment, and an owners right to put it on his property, the key word here, is his property.

The way it looks to me, that sign is on City right of way, and if there's an ordinance prohibiting temporary signs without a permit, then a LEO, Code Enforcement officer, or public works employee, can confiscate the sign without having to give warning/notification.

So, before putting the cart before the horse, someone needs to determine how many feet from the center of the roadway does the City right of way extend outward it's usually 15 feet.

Don't shoot the messenger, just saying
