The heads are on their way to Richard at WCCH. New CNC program and 2.20 intake valve. I've been running stock L92 vales all this time with no problems but we're going to upgrade the exhaust to stainless also while we're at it.

That is all. :D

WKMCD-why the 2.2 valve is that to move more air or is their an other reason?

I can't think of any other reason. The 4.125 bore will handle the size well without shrouding.

I trust Richard explicitly.

I know Shawn is SUPER busy so I'm leaving him alone. He does check this thread daily so hopefully he'll be posting more pics when he has some.

That's great. I know you have a lot of builds going on - which is the kind of problem you want.

Shawn @ Va Speed 01-22-2010 09:46 PM

couple new pics

in the hone with torque plate installed

http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...1-22-10002.jpg

here's a picture of the diamond hone stones. These last much longer than the old vitrified stones-they also make a cleaner cut and less tearout. The other benefit is less honing pressure which keeps rounder bores for much better ring seal

http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...1-22-10004.jpg

here we are honing.I try to keep the bores within .0001'' of roundness and taper

http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...1-22-10006.jpg

here's a screenshot of the readout on the hone. The image to the right is an exaggerated image of the bore, top to bottom

after cleaning the block, here we are in the build room, ready to start measuring and assembly

I'm really enjoying this engine build thread! My LS6 383 is still running very strong, BUT when the day comes for a new engine.... I know where I'll be going! and a 427 too!! Kevin, really looking forward to hearing and seeing how she runs when you get it back home. Mike

NOW THAT"S WHAT I'M TALKIN' ABOUT!!!!!

How much did you have to remove with the hone?
