C2 color combos?
What are the most desirable color combo and the least desirable
AND The percentage difference in value between the two. Very subjective question but always interesting to hear opinions cuz everyone is entitled to one.:smash: |
There's a reason the factory painted them different colors... Enough said. :leaving:
|
I think its "era" specific really. Look at all the Greens that were decent sellers in 65/67.... While I like em' 2013 eyes tend to see things differently.
I am always drawn to the unusual though. Black Exterior/Red interior is simply stunning, but not ordered that frequently "back in the day" I would imagine that Goldwood Yellow wasn't that popular... and some still consider it a chick's color... but with Black/White interior... man that thing is Awesome! |
In 1967 only 815 were painted BLK. Not sure about interiors. I know that there are not that many Tan/Tan 1963 combo's but there are no numbers that I can find to tell us how many for sure. People say that now Green is not a good color but in 1967 it was the number one color. So go figure.
|
And there are even fewer Tan/Black... which is a neat combo too. I have only seen one of those.

As for the 67 Big blocks, I'd say that the blacks (if original) are clearly the most valuable (with maybe the blue stinger the highest of all, then red, then white), then the reds, then silver, then the blues (all of them approximately the same value), then maroon and white (about equal), then yellow, and finally green. The difference in value can run as much as $125,000 just for color from what I've seen (for the 435HP engine option). |

1965 Milano Maroon with Maroon leather (one year only) or Silver Pearl with Silver leather are a couple of rather stuuning combinations. But there is something just perfect about a '66 Trophy Blue with Dark Blue interior ... Part of the reason I purchased my '66 coupe was that it is Milano Maroon with a Saddle interior. It's a great colour combo and it's the closest thing to owning a Ferrari 250 GT Lusso that I could reasonably imagine.

My '64 was built red with silver seats and door panels, red dash and floor carpets. Silver carpet on the doors! Red paint is okay, but the interior combo was the UGLIEST. Dyeing the dash and floor carpets black was a huge improvement, looked good with the silver door panels, and silver seats were cool in hot weather without showing dirt like white.
PS: For the last 25 years the exterior has been Porsche Guards Red and the interior has tan leather '84 seats, MUCH more supportive and comfortable on long drives. |
I thought triple black convertibles were the most sought after color.
|
Maybe someone with years in the Corvette auction business can quantify it for you. The highest value Corvettes I've seen are the ones with the original color they left the factory with many years ago.
BTW - This white/blue BB was simply stunning. Wow. :smiliedrool: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/pict...ctureid=130850 http://forums.corvetteforum.com/pict...ctureid=130851 |
two tone interiors were interesting in 1964 and 1965, made for some great combo's.

C2 color combos
I was at a local auction about 6 years ago, and there was a '65 coupe in Tuxedo Black with Medium Blue interior with KO's and white wall tires... it was very stunning.
|
Its just my opinion but that dark green is just terrible. Im not to fond of the blue interior either but to each his own LOL

1967 White BB with red interior and stinger. Great combination.

Pardon me, sounds like an investor question!
Basically most enthusiast have favorite colors!
Basically based on the perception of the question, just buy "resale" red! The more unique or to taste colors require that someone gets an emotionally reaction to cause the buy. |
And as I posted in another thread, there were colors/combos that when I first started looking, I wouldn't even have considered.
Now, I find myself really drawn to them, and that was just 6 months of looking. Its been over 4 decades since the last c2 rolled off the line, so color opinions/fashions have bound to have changed. |
For me I've never got past the 63 Silver Blue and Blue interior. I guess my second fav would be the 65 blue with blue interior.
One thing for certain, if I see a vintage Vette on the road I look and admire no matter the color:rock: |

For me anyway, the colors and especially color combos that were least popular back in the day have evolved into the most popular as the years have passed. |

I am most attracted to the uncommon color combinations (assuming they match an original trim tag) It seems like everyone and their brother has a red corvette with a black interior. |

Thank You.
I don't think White with Red is particularly rare, but I do agree it is timeless  http://forums.corvetteforum.com/atta...ine=1357316124 |

The C2 Stingray is such a timeless design, it shows off its lines in almost every color. My 65' ended up being the most popular for that year, Nassau Blue/Black, and people always ask: what is that color??
And my friends Elkhart Blue/Teal/Teal big block gets many impressions as well. Interesting to see the contrast side by side. Any way you slice it, they are beautiful cars http://i738.photobucket.com/albums/x...d/IMG_3746.jpg |
Dang, photobucket changed their links, lets try this again,

Elkhart Blue was the next to least produced color in 67(1096 units) . Only 812 black 67's were produced. Another interesting color combination is black, with teal interior, top and stinger. Very striking and very rare!

Never saw a silver with blue guts...think that would be quite attractive...any pics?

Well.... Sounds like I`m stuck with two of the least prefered colors on my Corvettes. One green :ack: and one white :ack: But I don`t care, I like them..

1965Fuelie,
I wouldn't be at all worried given that your duo have the two best Midyear engine options available! 65 Fuelie and a 67 BB. Nice garage you have there. I'm envious! I've always been a big lover of silver on all midyears AND I am absolutely head over heals for 67 Lynndale Blue/Black cars! |

When I was in the market for a midyear I was looking around for a real silver on silver BB car and this pic was the inspiration , I was never able to find one for sale so I guess it must be quite rare. I bought a silver/black car later.

The most striking color combo I have ever seen on a C2 is the Daytona Blue/Red. If I had a 63 restomod this is what I would choose, I finally found a picture of it:
http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t...ps4ea0c12c.jpg Alas, I have a 66 so it will get a different color combo. |
64 corvette interior color
I need to buy some touch up paint for my 64 vette, It is the interior "RED/Orange" Does anybody know what color it is called? It is used on the dashboard cover... Also do you have the paint code? |

there was also Mosport Green which was a rare color as well.. only made 2311 of them and ran for only one year. It came in either black or dark green interior.

Nice looking car and color, I'm just not into green. Looking for a good photo of the elusive 1966 Trophy Blue vert with a dark blue interior. In all my years going to the Kissimmee NCRS meet and the Daytona Turkey Day Rod Runs I have never seen one close up.

Steve, I'm on the other side of Orlando and can get to Mt. Dora in about 45 minutes. When and where do these cruise inns take place?
Cheers, Islander There were only about 75 cars last weekend. Some were cool ('54 Corvette resto rod), some not so much (late model Thunderbird). I've seen 150 cars in the past. The show is currently run by the local Corvette club and is being taken over by the City in 2 months and there should be some changes coming. Because of the location, I think the show has a lot of potential. I'll try to get some pictures next time I go but, personally, I don't think I'd make the 1-1/2 hour drive right now. -- Steve |
