96 6-Speed Trouble getting into reverse
 
The tranny feels find shifting from netural to first, to second, thrird all the way thur the gears. I'm have trouble shifting in to reverse? Any ideas

Are you pulling up the reverse lock? if there is one like on my 1994 Vette, I don't mean to sound mean about asking, just some people may not know that it is there. :thumbs:

95 & 96 6-speeds do not have the reverse lock out ring. They do require more effort to engage reverse though.

But if it's worse than normal, check your clutch fliud level.

With my '95, I pull it into reverse and hold pressure on the shifter as I gradually let the clutch out. It it's not engaged right away you'll feel it slide in as soon as the tranny starts to turn. It's always been that way.

Check your clutch fluid.

Mine did the same thing while leaking like a sieve. Went through the gears just dandy but frequently you had to hold it in reverse.

Then, just before it crapped altogether, I got a big "kathunk" downshifting from second into first.
