Suspension or Undercarriage Pictures

Does anyone have pics to show what you did to your Suspension or Undercarriage? I am looking for stock scenarioes to modified. Also can you specifically state what types of paint you used and colors? Has anyone ventured to the 'hammered' paint - I thought that may look kinda cool on the spindles

rosslato 11-20-2006 10:55 AM

i sandblasted all the parts frt & rear then gave them a coat of por 15 after etching & topcoated w/por 15 ford red engine paint. the frame i coated w/por 15 & topcoated w/krylon semi black. also used por 15 to coat the shell & wheelwells. i used dupli color red anodized paint for 1/2shafts & shocks

Rosslato,
Was the anodized red mixed and sprayed or was it available in "rattle-can"?

It's in a rattle can.

I painted my frame hammered gunmetal. I can get pics later.

pretty much stock setup except for the VB+P HD strut rods. rustoleum semi-gloss black and aluminum paint and a whole lot of new fasteners.

Rosslato - as always - WOW !.... Chris and I are heading in the same direction...

Yellow73 - grab some pics - eager to see that hammered look. Where else did ya use it? You happy with it?

I think the red really looks nice.

How does your 'painting work' hold up - how long ago did you paint it and how often do you drive it. Just trying to assess for myself and others how well each style of paint holds up

i did the rear end work 8,ooo mi ago which is 2 summers & have just a few paint chips on the front of the shocks but nothing on the 1/2shafts or TA's. the frt suspension i just did last spring & have 4,ooomi on it & no chips, still like when i did it. everything Red up front is coated w/por 15 engine paint, that stuff is hard.
P S-your homepage isn't working

kaiserbud 11-21-2006 07:49 AM

hmmm - I did not relaize POR 15 had engine paint. Will check out. That is good info on the condition of your work. thanks. What did you use on the silver underbody - any difference on temps.

This is working out well - as I can see what others painted, with different color combinations.

Swede - I like how you did your links to the photos. As for my homepage... I know :( - will try to address after the car is back together.

Actually it's an old AOSmith 355lb composite. Running KYB GR-2 shocks (for composite) from Vansteel. No complaints...
