JL 10w6 10w7??
 

Im trying to decide whether or not to go with TWO JL 10w6v2's or one JL 10W7....??? Give me some feedback here.. Ive had almost every other JL product out there. Never had any of them in a Vette. I want something that is REALLLLY gonna bang... :bigears

I would go with the one 10w7:cheers:

2 10w6's will have more surface area so it'll have higher spl. are you planning on installing this in a stealth box?

just a heads up, i just picked up a tc sounds tc-9 based on a suggestion of a well respected member of the diymobileaudio.com forums. I had a 12w7 but there were just too many issues with installing it and having it fit stealth with my new design. He said that the tc-9 was the best sq sub that he has ever heard. the others will be 'louder' but this one should be hard to beet sq-wise. may be worth looking into:

you can give those two w6's the same amount of power that you'd give the w7. you can actually give any speaker a lot more then the recommended rms spec as long as it's a clean signal. the distortion will kill the speaker long before the wattage will

I vote for the 2 10W6 subs. the W6 series has a much wider REAL frequency response. The W7 series is best for very low end bass (between 20-50Hz). The W6 series is perfect for filling the gap between low end (say 30 Hz-250Hz) to the midrange speakers.

Having 2 Jlw6 subs will allow you to have fuller bass because you can move more air while playing at a lower volume (cleaner bass IMO) plus it just looks cool.

My reccomendation would be to get a dual 10" sub box from here:

While the subthump box only offers .49 CuFt of airspace per sub, using polyfill in the box will provide the acoustic illusion of a larger box. JL website reccomends .625 CuFt of space per sub and with polyfill or fiberfill you can simulate somthing along those lines.

I wouldn't cross it over that high. 80hz is the highest i'd ever consider low passing a sub at. anything higher is going to ruin your soundstage.

ive got a 10w7 and love it.. But the darn thing rattled something in my driver side door and now my window dont roll down all the way.. its alot of bass and I dont even have the amp turned up

scott's right about the xover frequency, IMO the W6 has a flatter response curve over it's range wheras the W7 has a significantly higher response in the lower frequencies of it's range.

depends on what kind of music you'll be playing mostly.
