Carter Carb Date Codes
I need a refresher on the cast #'s on the C1 Carter carbs. I think they have a date code separate from the tag attached. Is this so, and if so, how is the date noted and located?
Thanks |
The only date code on a WCFB is on the tag. AFB's had a date code stamped on the edge of the baseplate - letter for the month, number for the year.

OK, I have two WCFB's that are identical except the small cast # on the left front is different. Example on one of them is 0-1517, and the 1517 has a circle around it. What does this number signify?

I have no idea what mine are off of. Rear carb has 15/16 venturis, front carb has 1". Amazingly, it seems to run pretty well. Maybe the difference "evens out" the lean/rich problems these seem to have between the front and rear cylinders!

The NCRS CD has a good list of all the WCFB 1x4 and 2x4 carbs and component numbers thru the '65 model years. It's a handy list for ID'ing these carbs.
