Largest tires I can put on C5 rear
 

Im sorry to ask, as this question probably has already been answered, but I was really wanting to install the C6 Z06 rear tires on my (C5) . I have a friend that has a set of the tires and wheels. I have heard that 315's are the largest. If I the C6 Z06 tires would not work, how much wider are the 315's than the stock size? I am 435rwhp and having a bit of traction problem. do you plan on tubbing it? i think you can get up to a 345 in the rear with a tub.

What wheels (rim size) are we talking about here??.. On a stock C5 rim,, a 345 is out of the question.. 295-35-18 is the largest tire,you can put on the stock C5 rim,but you wont get full potential of the wider footprint because it has to be stretched onto the narrow C5 stock rim.. so its a waste,just for looks.. Kinda like those big rear wing spoilers on the Honda civics.. I've got 285-35-18 on my stock rims.. Thats about as far as you can go in order to get the full width of the tread to the pavement for traction purposes.. Now if you go to a larger or wider rim than stock, then you open up the doors to a larger tire.. Just remember that larger, taller rims and taller tires will alter your gear ratio for the worse.. (acceleration will be slower)

I ran michelin 325/30/18s on 03 z06 rims. These were on a 97 A4. They never rubbed. Hope this helps.:cheers: Oh, I feel your pain on the traction issue. I think I'm gonna go with 315 width drag radials next.

If you have a traction problem I bet your tires are too old or your right shoe has too much lead in it.

Tires have their best traction with in 12 months and almost competly gone at 18 months. Tread depth has nothing to do with traction. It is the rubber between the groves that provides traction. The tread groves move water away from under the tire. That is way racing tires are slicks.

the right foot is a big factor in traction. Too many guys just want to mash / smash / stomp that right peddle to the floor. Learing to 'roll' the right peddle to the floor ( smooth, gentle push of the right peddle to the floor) will give you far more traction then stomping on the right peddle.

Remember if your rear wheels are spininng you arn't going forward.

This link only lists the 335's for a 17" rim, which is not a stock Z06 rear size. Did you mean 315's ?

I see no listing for a 335 for an 18" rim....

I run my 315s on 18x11 wheels (CCW); however, depending on manufacturer - some 315 tires can work safely on a 10.5 wheel. I recommend checking the websites of the various tire manufacturers and see what size wheel they recommend for their 315 tires. Hoosier, Kumho, Nitto, Toyo, etc., have slightly different designs with varying wheel width allowances. I run a 18x12 for the 335.

335s need a 18x12" rim. Have seen them on a 11" rim, but they are bulging out in the center. Not a good thing.

I also run 335/30x18s on a 18x12" rim ( street wheels) and 18x13" track wheels ( with 3/8" spacer and longer ARP studs)

I have been reading up on this for some time and have read here on the forum that 18'' x 12'' wheels with 345s will fit depending on the offset. I am going to tub mine and use CCWs 18'' x 9.5'' fronts and 19''x13'' rears with 345s under the stock fenders. Don't care for big bulge rear fenders.

Proper wheel offset will determine how much tire you can fit!

The CCW classic "big tire/wheel pkg" is the largest I`ve seen without rubbing and that`s what I run.
f 18x10 275/35-18 0r 285/30-18
r 18x11.5 335/30-18

Mich Pilot sports fit without rubbing as do Toyo RA1`s
Other tire brands of these same sizes can run wide and my rub, like Goodyear F1 and Toyo 888`s

I`d call CCW for offset info, etc.........

P.S. The above mentioned Mich & Toyo tires do not require a 12in rim in the rear as they run a little narrower than the Goodyear & Toyo 888`s

I'm running CCW C14 Corsairs 18x11 front and 18x12 rear with 315s and 335s. They stick out some so watch ride height, but do not rub unless you turn the wheel full lock left or right, which you seldom do on the track. Works great for me.
