Where is the part # for the windshield located?
I went to the bodyshop today to hopefully pick up my car.........NOPE!!!
Still not done buffing a few spots, windshield, side windows and rear window moulding did not look right. Found a distortion in the windshield down low on the drivers side, and it doesn't look like it was put in right.:toetap: The only # that I clearly saw was on the pasengers side near the hood. It said it was a HUD widshield but has a # of 43R-009047.....so I went out to the lot and saw a C5 coupe (don't know what year) and it was the same #............went to a friends house who has an '04 Z so I could compair the window moulding issues and checked the # on it's windshield and it had a # of 43R-008008. I saw in another post that, 401K ZO6 listed the part #'s as: Z06 (HUD) is DW1514GBN C5 (non-HUD) is DW 1430GBN But these are part #'s are from NAGS I want to make sure they are not short changing me on the windshield. So how do I know I'm getting the right one? Where do I look? Found this in another thread The following are GM part number and GM list prices; 99-00 FRC 10426714 01-04 Z06 10315114 99-01 conv w/HUD 10426714 02-04 conv w/HUD 10315114 10426714 $1,082.83 10315114 $879.90 |
The 2001 Z06 windshield was 10426201 (no HUD) and that has been superceded by part number 10315114, and if you look up part number 10426714 you will find it has been superceded by part number 10315114 .... which means GM is now shipping only one windshield for ALL Corvettes with and without HUD in them.
No "thinner" glass only for the Z06 anymore, apparently.    |
Hope this help ... I replaced my windshield last June

http://72vette.net/sticker1.jpg http://72vette.net/window3.jpg Total cost paid to the Glass company ... $320.00 However I am not wanting to go with anything other than OEM and am not willing to have anything other than "light weight" windshield that was specific for the Z. The # at the top in the 2nd pic you posted is not the same as the one they put in my car, and I'm needing to know if this is where I will be able to tell as I was not there to see the "sticker" that comes on the windshield for delivery. |
The windshield I had installed is the OEM windshield for the Z06. If you have something different on your windshield other than above, you probably didn't get a Z06 OEM windshield.

As I pointed out in post #2 GM is now shipping the same windshield for ALL the C5 ... whether they have HUD or not ....
Here are a couple more threads if you want .. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1587560 http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1659243  |

So far the Z's I've seen have the 43R-008008 # which is not what they put on my car. They are going to have to replace it again anyway because of the distortion I saw, not to mention like I said earlier it didn't look like it fit right......the top seemed to be up too high, and wouldn't allow the moulding to fit flat enough.......same with the rear window. |
Here is the logo on the windshield that was replaced on my 02 Z06. This windshield was provided to the glass company by the local Chevy dealer based on my VIN. I wrote down the info on the previous glass and it matched with the exception of the black dots.

DOT-376 M334 And below that I have 4 dots in a different layout than The Wanderer ... Certainly looks like 43R-008008 is what you want ... with HUD ... the M334 or M534 is referred to as the Model Number in the DOT list I found ... could be that the M334 is non-HUD and M534 is the HUD windshield. EDIT .... MORE INFO .....The 43R-008008 may not be that important ... after doing some research, that circle with the E6 in it indicates that this windshield has been certified in (E6 = Belgium) a European country to meet the European standard 43R ... followed by a number that shows some kind of registration number. So all of the newer windshields may be arriving with a new certification number ... it does not appear to indicate any kind of construction information about the windshield. I'd call Gene at http://www.gmpartshouse.com and ask him if he can read the markings from the windshield (GM part number 10315114) as everywhere I've looked that appears to be the only windshield available for the C5 ... all previous part numbers have "superceded" to this one. |

I totally understand that you want the correct windshield. I just went and looked at my 2001 Z06 (HUD was not offered that year) .... this is the original windshield from tthe factory ....

As I am sure they will be replacing the windshield again I may just ask them to leave the part # sticker from shiping on the window until I look at it. Thanks to all for their help  |
Just looked at the invoice from when my windshield was replaced and the GM part number for the windshield is: 10315114.
