Best Navigation System
 

So everyone I'm looking at after market navigation systems (Magellan, Tomtom, or Garmin) and they all look the same to me but hey who am I? So my question for everyone is, do you have one and if you do, do you like it if so what brand is it thanks

I have the Tomtom. It is easy to download the newest software and is totally user friendly. Mine also has the bluetooth so it is hands-free with the phone or whatever other device. I have had it for about 2 years now. :thumbs:

I always went with Garmin because they always seem to be the standard that other companies try to meet. They have been selling GPS for a long time, they are easily upgradeable (frequent updates even for old GPS also), and they are real easy to use.

I currently have the Nuvi 350 that I have owned for about 1-2 years now. It is still great and fits in a pocket (great for getting around big cities).

My vote is for Garmin:thumbs:

what Garmin would be the best bang for the buck?

I have the Kenwood DNX7100. The only complaints I have are the lack of a clock on all the screens and the excessive brightness of the screen at night.

I purchased the top of the line and latest/greatest TomTom 920T a few months ago. Extremely happy with it. One of the latest features is that you can speak to it for the address entries instead of entering them on the display. This works very well. Has Bluetooth, free map updates and all the other goodies. Highly recommended.

I have an indash as well for the C6. Wife has the portable Garmin..both are nice. Love the options of my Eclipse..its been a trooper...in and out of 3 cars thus far and working flawlessly. Tons of view points, I honestly can not say anything negitive about the unit.

I'm getting my wife a Garmin 660 for her Toyota Van and also to aid her with her real estate business. I was going to get her a Garmin 760 but an extra $100+ for a few features just didn't seem worth it.

Depnds on what you want. Do you want built in traffic? Then you want at least a Nuvi 370. My 350 is great but you have to buy the traffic receiver but they are only about $30 or so on ebay. Bluetooth I believe starts in the 600 series.

I've seen the 350 around for about $250. It is really adviseable to search on-line because the prices vary greatly. Best Buy is usually $50-100 too high.

They also have excellent customer service, even for quick help questions that you can't figure out.

I also like it because it is easily portable and you can even buy topographic or marine maps.

Garmin all the way. Recently went to a NUVI for the non NAV equipped cars and love it. What's key in my mind is that it is very intuitive. Without opening a page of the manual you can power it up and start using it. Makes it usable for the wife when I'm not present.

Garmin Nuvi is the one you want i sold my Nuvi 350 and purchased a Nuvi 750 bigger screen no flip up antenna $360 Amazon.com would buy either one again. btw a friend has a 08 Avalanche with factory nav went on a trip the factory nav. unit is very hard to use compared to the Nuvi glad i didn't buy the factory nav. with my new car. your results may vary.

I base this on the experience I've had as a ships master & personal experience.

My Family runs several Crew Boats in the Gulf and the Garmin units have a near 100% track record (abusive saltwater enviroment). Occassionally a handheld unit has given me trouble when subjected to some extreme abuse. I have one that has been to the top of MT. Hood 3 times and was purchased around 1997 still works with about a 36 \' accuracy on average. I recently purchased a Garmin Nuvi 660 with live traffic, gas prices, Msn info the traffic is a must in the major met. areas

I have been using Garmin since they first came to market . I recently got Garmin Nuvi 680 , and I am very happy with it . Then noticed that the local Costco store is selling them below the website price , for $399 so I got one for the other garage queen.:lol:

I have the Garmin Nuvi 680. I think it is the best for the money ($399 at Costco) and has all the important features. I won't elaborate here as you can look it up easily enough online. Enjoy

:iagree: I recently purchased a NUVI 200 which is their base unit, very happy with it, very user friendly for a novice like myself. Office Depot was were I picked up mine at $179, feel like it's a good value...:thumbs:

Though I have the factory nav unit in my Vette, I have a Garmin Nuvi 660 for my SUV and for traveling. It's a fantastic unit that I can easily recommend. I love the Bluetooth. It also allows you to type in the name of your destination; upon your arrival, it says "now arriving at (destination name), on (left/right)." Very cool.

I have the MIO C520. $400 at Fry's. High resolution, high memory, and fast CPU. However, I just dropped it off for repairs yesterday.... :rolleyes:

Magellan for me.
Great deal at Costco- #3225 for $149 after instant $50 rebate.

I have the Magellan and love it. The price is great, it is already downloaded with all the data you will ever need, easy to operate. I have used it for a trip to Florida and Bolwing Green, Ky. Just punch in your destination, fastest time and leave the rest to the Unit.
