How much does a small block weight?
I have a 350 and a 327.
Does anyone know the weight of a 350 engine block and 327 block. Just block, nothing else on it!! |
I'll go out on a limb here, I'd say about 400 pounds...

A small block Chevrolet with a cast iron intake is around 575 lbs., they don't list bare blocks.
You can see all engine weights here....kind of a fun chart to look at also. http://www.team.net/sol/tech/engine.html |

This forum never ceases to amaze me, people ask questions and get great responses, cripes, even a complete engine listing with weights

I'll play. Bare I'm thinking closer to 180 pounds. Someone has to have one laying around to weigh.

I have a bare 350 block on a stand in the garage. Probably around 250 pounds.
Me and a friend lifted a 325 Aluminum Gen IV shortblock (crank/pistons/rods installed) by hand to a truck bed. The entire thing couldn't have been more than 180 pounds. |
It's right at 150lbs. I used to use a bare block for exercise as a teenager. lol

GM small block @185 +/- 5 lbs depending on bore
