Guys what effects can cause if i buy a EGR Block off plate ????
I remember that i saw some plates to block that silly hose that runs over the passenger valve cover...where can i get the plates for that ???? i dont remember where i saw them !!! what's that hose function ?????? im planning to delete all of them ! thanks Hose locations and EGR http://img247.imageshack.us/img247/9431/delete2he2.jpg Hose installed http://img224.imageshack.us/img224/3989/deleteky3.jpg |
I cut them out of 1/4'' aluminum plate. Not worth the time and money to buy them. :)

thanks ! i will be getting this, its a pita take off that silly hose everytime i want to take the valve cover off.- and i dont want the EGR valve anymore since maybe its not working properly,i dont know how all of this will affect my car but i think nothing terrible since this items are being bought all the time ! any idea on what could happen with no egr and crossover hose ? thanks |
I read somewhere that you need to delete the EGR function in your
PROM....I only skimmed it since I'm stuck with mine...:( |
Here's a cheap way.Cut the flanges off the old pipe and reuse with a couple of coins. The EGR valve you can just block with an aluminum plate, easy enough to fabricate.

what's the advantage on doing this?

Zero without something to keep your combustion temps under 1200 degrees which is what EGR does. Get above that combustion temp and it forms NOX - ok - so you're not a tree hugger - but you can also get detonation. The ECM then pulls timing and you lose performance (and maybe a mile or two per gallon - kinda of important these days). At worst, you wear out what may be an allready worn out motor. Anyway, unless you want to swap out the cam for a little more overlap - or maybe figure out how the Brits used water injection to keep their Spitfires flying - I'd fix it; it isn't that difficult to figure out. And while you're out it, spend your money on a Scanner or a cable for your laptop, which along with some free software, will give you all you need to monitor how everything is doing.
