19 inch Drag Radial?
 

I have 18s 19s wrappd in pirellie rossi tires my rear tires need replacing soon. I am going to have over 550rwhp soon is there a drag radial for 19 inch rims? Or a better tire with more grip?

Don't believe that anything exists yet. Nitto does a 20", but that's the only thing I've come across bigger than an 18" diameter.

I run a 19" Hoosier R6 on the back of my vette. Feels at least as good as my old 315 BFGs.

Great info :thumbs: are these tires okay for a daily driver well a weekend driver? How do these things wear faster the a normal tire? Is this tire good good for traction outa the hole? Stock drivetrain are things going to start to break? Do 315s fit on c5z?

Well I'm running L5s so I get the 345/30/19 and I would expect 5-7K miles out of them if you're not doing useless burnouts.

They have 295/30/19, 315/30/19, and 315/40/19 for non-L5 vettes. I don't recall what sizes of these you're supposed to have as my 315s were on an 18" rim before I got the 19s & L5s.

Seeing how they cost $758 a pair on tirerack.com, that's $1516/year to daily drive them using average annual mileage. Is traction that important to you? I know I can spin any non race tire at over 100mph so in my case I spend that money as insurance. I also don't DD my vette and it's never been in the rain.

These tires will get you killed if you drive in anything but dry weather. You're starting to get to the point where you make the decision of best dry traction possible and no wet traction at all, or all around tires like the PS2s that I can spin at 100mph and maybe end up in a wall.

Yes it will stick out of the hole when warm, but you can over power them like other DRs so they should spin before you break anything. You're not going to hook up a 5K clutch dump which is good since that's where things go boom.

I recommend any DR over the run-craps as they will add years to your drive train. Why? Because they won't hop like a solid compound tire will. I have seen several stock power C5s break parts due to wheel hop. The DRs tend to rotate on the pavement without hop. Be careful at the track as rubber on rubber (laid down patches on the track itself) can hook, release, hook, release creating a "hop" effect still.

Toyo makes an R888 tire in 19" sizes, it is a competition tire, but in r compound. Several guys in the FI section run it with great results. I think they are the cheapest for that type of tire too!!:thumbs:

My Nitto drag radials will wheel-hop on the street or the track, just like regular tires.

Is there a reason you use the R6 VS the A6?
And what tire size should I run the 315/30/19 or the 315/40/19

The A6 is for qualifying where the R6 is for the race itself. This means the A6 gets real hot real fast but is done in a hurry. The R6 will behave more like a street tire, taking longer to warm up and lasting longer.

Depending on what you're running up front, I would run the 315/30/19 as they're 26.4" tall which is pretty good for a C5.
