Under hood lights.....

As we all know they come on when you open the hood. I have mine unplugged because I'm always tinkering and don't want to run the battery down.

My question is.......Have any of you switched these so you can just turn them on and off easily? If so, what kind of switch was used? I want something that looks decent. -Mike

Mine have switches under the lights I have no clue as to how they got there.

That's what we're all here for. ;)

I installed two toggle switches (one under each light) that can be turned on when you need them. Very easy to do. Just splice the switch in right under the light in the long section of wiring that leads up to each light. I got slick and made custom brackets for them so they look like they were made from the factory that way. Cost maybe $10.00 total.

I thought about that also but was affraid it would look bad. I think what I'm going to do is use the toggles though. Take out the light fixture and drill a hole just below it and put the toggle there. Kind of like the switch in the first reply shows.

Thanks for your input.

I have a kit for this that I got from Gordon Kilebrew that I decided that I am not going to use, he gets $15 plus $8 for shipping, I will sell it for $15 shipping included. If you want a picture, let me know.

If you don't want to bother with installing switches, there's an easy alternative. Just pull the fuse which is enclosed in plastic holder just above the left front turn signal assembly. Flip the lid of the holder to access the fuse.

I used two simple on/off switches from Radio Shack wired inline to each light. I attached them to the underhood.

Thanks for all the replies! I got it figured out. Weav
