Show me the best C5 interiors.

The interior of the C6 is the ONLY reason why I'm considering it.

If someone can show me some nice interior mods and upgrades to the C5, it will be no contest.

I want to see seats, dashes, and an integrated sat nav in particular.

But show me anything you have that looks good!

As always, thanks in advance!

Here's mine...

Started out as a standard, all-black Z06 interior. Turned it into a half black, half tan, full quality re-do. I didn't want to do anything to make it look "unstock"; I just wanted more quality and less black.

It now features:

-Vette Essentials door pulls and steering wheel;
-Carskinz center console lid, ebrake handle, and shift knob;
-Corvette Motorsports seats and boots;
-Lloyds Mats w/ logo.

Here's the before-and-after:

Your interior is SUPER nice, tan and black looks the best i think. I dont like the c6 interior for a few reasons, the switches in the c5 are really nice, the c6 goes back to crappy plastic switches for window and door, and then theres the door button instead of a handle. And the worst part of the whole thing is that crinkle cover that slides over the cup holders, i cant stand that, the dash on the c6 is nice, thats about all i like.

Odd...that's the only think I don't like about the C6. It looks too much like every other car IMO.

Of course If it were up to me, the interior would look like a cockpit. This is what it looks like at the moment:

Thanks.

Coincidentally, I just dropped Matt an email earlier today at VetteEssentials reporting that I have had this interior installed for over a year now on my DD and it still looks like the first day I put it inservice. I thought he might be interested in getting some feedback on wear characteristics since these were the first seats he had done with this newer CF-leather supplier. Of course, I treat them with extra care, but I also treated the stock seats with the same care and they were showing signs of wear after one year.

Wow! hmmm this just goes to show you the wide range of "taste" in the Corvette World!

For me the C6 Interior is the one major thing HOLDING ME BACK! I love the way my C5 interior looks....
Jet fighter...smooth, sexy, with lines. Not a big fan of the "bubble" as I call it when you sit in the C6.
Reminds me too much of the old C4 "crash pads" on the passenger side. The C5's "oh shi&" handle on
the dash just breaks up the bubbleness and add's flare. Just my opinion though...

Nice interior! I've got to ask. What did you have to do to get rid of that nasty dash gap on the upper right hand corner of the radio bezel? Did you just get a new bezel or is there a way to fix it?

02 C5man 05-12-2009 08:55 AM

I'm impressed! It looks like a modded C5 interior blows the doors off the C6 anyday! I've always liked the quality of the C6 interiors, but not necessarily the layout. The passenger side grab handle deletion on the C6 was definately a step back in the style department. The C6 reminds me too much of the 94-04 Mustang interior.

I used a trick where I wrapped the top right radio bezel clip in electrical tape. This allowed the clip to hold tighter and got rid of my bezel gap.

Yup... that's exactly what I did. A new bezel would solve the problem IF the connection is weak due to that upper right clip being worn down; but not if the female side of the connection is worn. In that case, wrapping electrical tape around that clip fattens it up and creates a tight fit, so it stays put. I used about 10 layers and it's holding strong!

It's one of the "best kept secrets" in the world of $2 Corvette fixes!

Question about the double din install, did the radio bolt right into the factory fastener locations or were there modifications that needed to be done?? By the looks of the DD bezel, it apears to look the same as the stock piece..

Nice job on your set up!!

Lancejoker 05-12-2009 04:00 PM

I'm lost with where to go with my seats. I have yellow door pulls and the matching wrap for the handle on the dash(though all are sunfaded) and the steering wheel wrap. I can't decide if I should do the seats all black and have the "Corvette" yellow and the logo embroidered on the headrest,of if I should do black with yellow inserts and the embroidery.

The CF patterned leather products are slightly different from DSV vs. VE, but it's okay with me, as they aren't really near each other.
I did send DSV a piece of my VE blue leather hide to cover the steering wheel, that way it was a perfect match.

I did send DSV a piece of my VE blue leather hide to cover the steering wheel, that way it was a perfect match.

Thanks for the response. Was the patch you sent them for the blue leather actually enough to cover the steering wheel or did DSV just match up the color to their stock of leather? My question is more of a "chicken or the egg" scenerio...Buy the VE leather kit and have DSV match up the steering wheel or buy the DSV steering wheel with the least expensive leather option and then ship it to VE to have them match it up with their other leather components.

Nice. Where you get your interior done? Is that electron blue?

Yea, that Black and Blue looks good.

i respect everyone's obvious enthusiaam and the hard work/money spent on these cars, but i am the only one that thinks these over the top interiors are gawdy?
try going to the dealer with one for trade in. they would have to offer u less than stock as it drastically cuts down on potential buyers.
anyone on here have cleaner single color interiors done?
not trying to be a jerk, but im suprised that the prevailaing theme is matching the exterior color or carbon/flaming everything out.

Is that a superman shift knob I see in the first picture? If to don't mind me asking where'd you get it from?

Sorry Jersey, but I have to disagree. I just did a quick scroll back through this entire thread and there were only two cars that I might consider gaudy, and I emphasize might. I won't say which two they were, because I thought they were very well done even though they weren't quite my taste. All the others I saw looked very tasteful to me, and complemented the cars well. There was one black/red combo that had more red than I'd have liked for myself, but it still looked good. There were a couple of black/oak cars that looked good and were similar to what I envision doing if I ever get my hands on a C5 of my own. The black/blue car I thought was particularly outstanding! None of this is meant as a criticism of you, merely expressing a different viewpoint. It really comes down to a matter of taste. Some people like monochromatic interiors and exteriors, some like two-tone interiors and exteriors with stripes/graphics. Some have a stong preference for factory original, while others enjoy modifying cars to suit their own personalities. There's no right or wrong here. We have different tastes and preferences. I say viva la difference! (Or however the hell the French spell it!)

You are correct. Many dealers will frown on gaudy or pin-ball machine looking interiors. But that is the choice of the owner of the car. If the owner likes it, thats all that matters. It's the owners car. He/she can do whatever they want with it.

I think most Vette owners like to have fun with their cars and really don't spend much time worrying about the selling price of the car. They'll worry about that when the time comes. :)

Me personally, i like a cleaner quality looking interior. But i do like looking through these posts seeing what other people have done with their cars.

A cleaner looking interior is what has got me debating on doing yellow and black leather seats or just black and maybe a black suede in the inserts with the CORVETTE and the C5 logo embroidered in yellow.

I don't think Z06 Jim and his flame concept will ever approach a dealer for a trade deal. Many of these customized interiors are designed based on the taste of the individual owner and trade in value is the least of their concern. In fact, if any of these cars showed up at a local Vette show, I'm sure they could get many offers and bypass the dealers directly if necessary if they wanted to sell their cars.

I do agree that even subtle interior modifications look good as well. Replacing a stock all-black interior with upgraded black leather and perhaps some suede and colored lettering would probably appease the masses a little bit better come trade in time, however as mentioned, I don't think many of these Vette enthuasiasts are concerned.

It is indeed  A friend of mine painted it for me. I bought a hurst knob and sanded it down then hit it with filler primer and he laid the color and air brushed the Superman logo on it for me.

Thanks, I did it a little at a time, got the center console, shifter, e-brake, panic and door handle covers from Redline Goods. The seat covers I got off ebay and the steering wheel is just a cover for now from wheelskins, hope to move up to one of those newer D-shaped wheels soon, maybe for Christmas! :D No, it's not quite electron blue but all seems to go together pretty well. Would have liked to go with all VE stuff but that was more then a little out of my budget. :yesnod:

Thanks!

I think it will be when it is finished (but I believe it is like a website - always a work in progress - never really "done"). I do have some new pics to post soon in a more finished state with the matching CF-Leather Glove Compartment Door, etc.

It took me a few weeks to come up with the design and materials combination that I finally went with. I was trying to achieve a more "classy" look, but still retain a hint of "sportiness" and I am very happy with the results. This is one of the many design spec drawings I sent to VE to get everything done...

The same theme and Madira embroidery thread color was used everywhere. Again, part of the goal was to make everything look like it was something that "could" have come from GM as an optional package.

Can you tell me were you purchased those Kick plates that look like SS or polished aluminum. I purchased a car with light interior and the previous owner put some scuff marks on there that I cannot get off. Thanks

I certanly enjoyed looking at all of the fine work done here. Some of the interiors are very tastefull, while some are absolutly stunning. All look great in their own way.

For me, I don't think I am going to change anything on mine. From everything I have found to read I have one of only 15 Mill Yellow with Torch Red interior verts made in 2000. Is it worth more becasue of this, probably not. But it is unique and I would hate to change it.

It's your car. If you want to personalize it, don't let trade-in value stop you. The trick is, if you plan on trading in the future, do things that can be put back to stock.
Most people, myself especially, have no desire to ever trade/sell our Vette's.
