Help! C6 will not start or turn over
 

I tried jump starting with absolutely no result (Battery is only a year old and appears fine). Also I tried replacing the clutch relay switch that detects that the clutch is actually depressed, with no result either. Any ideas? Thanks!

Is this after a recent mod or is it just out of the blue?

jump starting with crappy jumper cables is my bet. Were they yellow?

Need the thick black ones.

What's the Battery Voltage say in the DIC?

No mods. I had actually just driven the car a few hours earlier. Jumper cables were the thick 12 gauge ones.
Power to cockpit apears fine and lights are bright.
DIC voltage reads 11.9 volts.

Check all grounds from battery to chassis and also the positve cable on the battery. Take them off and clean them. May not be the answer but more times than not its a loose cable.

not high enough to start car. I thought I read it has to be higher than that. Someone will chime in, or PM shopdog.

what does it read when you hit the starter, is it pulling the voltage down or staying the same. normally (at least in my experience) 11.9 V will be enough to at least make it grunt a little just not enough to make it turn over and fire up.

Im having an issue w mine. 12.1 volts ON DIC in accessory mode. starter just goes click once. Im going to check the connections then try to jump start it.

Tried pressing and releasing start button a couple of times. Stays at 11.9 volts. No grunt.

12 gauge is not very big and could be your problem with the jump. I have 4 gauge and 2 is even better. It's best if you attach the jumper cables and run the donor car at a fast idle for 10 minuets before trying to start the C6. :cheers:

Check the ground at the battery, disconnect and then reconnect.

:iagree: Find some old welding lead cable, get some nice clips for the battery ends and you have as good a jumper cable that there is. If this wont put the juice to it, then you definitly have other problems. But I still say as I said in an earlier post, pull them cables, clean them and check all the grounds. If it is not even grunting or pulling the voltage down, it almost has to be in the connection somewhere. More than likeley a ground. :thumbs:

There is an outside chance the starter switch is bad.

2006 C6 Manual pages in ().

1) Check the Starter fuse (5-99), RUN/CRANK Relay(5-95), Ignition switch fuse (5-95), Powertrain Ignition and Crank mini relays (5-100).

2)Try jumpstarting (with heavy guage jumpers cables - not 12) using the terminals on page 5-47, not the battery location.

By any chance was it really humid or raining when you last started and drove it?

there is also a ground wire near the rear of the car on the driver's side that attaches to the frame that could have come loose. Mine wasnt tightened back down after a gear swap, and wouldnt start either. It is just after the rear axle on the driver's side frame rail.

My car had the same issue. The battery would not hold a charge and at least in my experience anything below 12 on the battery read out and the car wouldn't even attempt to turnover. The battery was only 2 years old. Mine was still under warranty, so I called the chevy house got a new battery for free and haven't had a problem since.


AC Delco Batteries suck. Batteries on my Dad's Dmax only lasted a year as well. My 03 Ford Supercrew is still running the original Motorcraft battery with no issues. If mine wouldn't have been in warranty I would have gone with an optima.

Batteries seem to always be a crap shoot, I have never had to replace an AC Delco battery to date and keep my vehicles an average of 3 yrs. Now that I have said that my truck battery will likely take a crap this weekend LOL. I like Interstate and Optima's as quality replacements.

Well 11.9 isn't going to do it. Even the C-5's need 12.5 across the battery before it'll run. Have the battery load tested and check all the battery connections. Please let us know what you find.
