Same thing happened to me, I ended up going to the chevy house and getting a spare key made.

Obviously you don't have a spare fob sitting around. :willy: Might have to get a spare key made from a dealer - not sure if a locksmith can do it without a key to use as a pattern.
|
Right from the owner's manual.
"One key is used for the ignition, the driver’s door and all other locks. When a new vehicle is delivered, the dealer gives the first owner a key and a bar coded tag. Both the key and the tag are attached to a key ring. The paper tag has a code on it that tells your dealer or a qualified locksmith how to make an extra key. Keep the bar-coded tag in a safe place. If you lose your key, you’ll be able to have a new one made easily using this tag. If your key doesn’t have a tag and you need a new ignition key, go to your dealer for the correct key code. Notice: If you ever lock your keys in your vehicle, you may have to damage the vehicle to get in. Be sure you have spare keys." |
i cant stress how easy it is to slip a metal clothes hangar between the window seal and the window to press the unlock button. it takes less than a minute. the alarm will go off.

what about that....shaking the car thing if the fob is in it ?
|
If you go to a dealer or locksmith you will need ID and the owners card. They just don't make keys and give them to anyone. Having the vin # alone most places will not make a key.

only if the fob has a passive setting, 97 to 99. I locked my keys in my 93 and that worked. Not so lucky in my 00, pulled the glass out and stick a dowel in to hold the window, hanger to filp the door lock button. Just make sure you don't have a sharp edge on the hanger or you'll scratch the door panel.

I've done this twice unfortunately. First at Lowes where I had to go back in the store to buy a thin rod so's I can break into my own car  and the second time was at a pressure wash where a buddy grabbed a coat hanger for me.
After having done this twice now, I'm pretty nervouse about the security of my own Z :willy: I mean the alarm goes off and everything and I park her in the garage when at home, but.... |
My wife did that once with my convertible. She called me all in panic because she was worried it was going to rain and the top was down. :willy:
Did I mention she is blonde ?  Doug |
