Change oil light
I just changed my oil a few weeks (400 miles) ago and put in some Mobil 1 synthetic. On my way to lunch today my change oil light came on.... should I be concerned about this? The old oil was pretty thick and black but I had drained it all out. Should I just drain and add more oil and not worry about it? And will the change oil light go off automatically? Thanks

:rofl::rofl: Oh dear God!:rofl::rofl:
There are a ton of threads on here about resetting your oil light, or read your manual. You have nothing to worry about.:cheers: |
Hahah I suppose I should have just waited until I got home instead of rushing to my phones browser... I haven't had the light come on before, that's all:hide: .....I'm retarded

You have to manually reset it when you change your oil. New to the vette or just rarely drive it? Turn the key on, but don't start it. Within 5 seconds push and release the eng/met button twice, then hold the gauges button in until the change oil message quits flashinng (about 10 flashes).
ps - Hope you changed the blinker fluid. This has been a special moment of greatness. |

Yes I'm fairly new to the vette and I seriously love the thing. It just seemed strange to me that the change oil light would come on AFTER I had just recently changed my oil. Guess i'll have to go pick up a few quarts of blinker fluid next :crazy2::lol:
:cheers: |

It's all calculated by the computer, using a formula based on oil temperature and engine revolutions. You have to manually reset this oil life monitor every time you change the oil, otherwise the light will come on when you don't expect it. Brand new 2011 GM cars are not any different, and you have to reset the monitor after an oil change. |
what filter did you use?

These guys love to screw with noobs -- don't pay any attention to that "blinker fluid" nonsense. The blinkers are vacuum-operated. Just check the vacuum hoses and you'll be all right.
|
Corvettes are the exception, but they are still GM products and GM does some weird stuff.

Ohhhhh so the blinkers are vacuum operated, I was under the impression that there were small gnomes inside the bulbs that created flashing lights with their magical wands..... thanks for clearing that up:rofl:
And I think he was referring to the fact that Corvettes are not Chinese made (for now) |
