GM/ACDelco Part #10227069 Power Steering Pump Pulley 1995 Corvette question

I need this part for my 1995 Corvette. It is a discontinued part. Could you please tell me if this part is supposed to be plastic or metal. I have found sites that have a plastic (very expensive) and metal (reasonably priced). Will either work just fine? If so, I will order the metal one because it is priced within reason. This is a really difficult item to find.

What sites are you finding the metal one? Its the metal one you need. Late 93 and up used steel. I need a 10227069 also, and I can't find one anywhere! Thanks!

Curious....why would you need to replace the power steering pulley...what happened to the old one?

I never had one... I got an LT from a B-body and bought all the accessories.... The used pump I got had the plastic pulley on it, not the metal one...

Ticks me off...I ordered one from Corvette Central in January and they said they had it but would have to wait until March to get it and send it. Then after I wait all that time they send me an email the other day cancelling my order because its discontinued. If I find a place that has one, I will post it! My pulley appears to be wobbling and the mechanic said it should be replaced.

Anyone have any ideas on a replacement pulley? Will another generation work? Another PS pulley from another vehicle? I'm getting desperate here. There are C5+C6 PS pulleys on ebay for like $15. Seems ridiculous I will end up having to spend big bucks on an item that probably cost $5 to produce.... If I can even find one that is...

I can't find one. I have searched exhaustedly. I don't get why places like Corvette Central are not manufacturing duplicates themselves and marking them up since GM doesn't make them. I think the scrapyard could be the only option. Wish I could find one.

I just ordered one from 20th street auto parts. It's a used pulley but hopefully it's the right one. It was $50 shipped. I sent an email request stating a needed a pulley for a 95' Corvette, the steel one used from late 93 to 96. So I'm really hoping it's the right one! haha I'm sure it will be though. I have faith in them! If it's not I will be quite unhappy. haha We'll see I guess.

Let me know when you get it if its the right one. Good luck.

Same here, tried to order one from 3 or 4 different places (including Corvette Central). Finally got a NOS pulley out of FL for $75!:woohoo:

Just don't ask how the old pulley got trashed....:crazy2:

Found this one

Power Steering pulley

Mine had been pulled off incorrectly prior to me owning the car and just seems a little warped - wanted it replaced, although it appears ok.

They have them in stock.

brvette1 04-16-2011 07:16 PM

Congrats on finding new old stock. How did you locate it?

jverble 04-16-2011 07:59 PM

Just searching the Internet and calling lots of people.
I quickly realized I was not going to find a new one so started looking for remanufactured or after market.

These guys can rebuild you stock unit.

Well I hate to bing bad news; but I went to put the new pulley on this morning and the hole in the pulley is larger than the pulley.
I will contact the company and see what I can find out.
But I wanted to let you know my recommendation may have false hope :(
I will let you know after I talk to the company tomorrow.

Thanks to both of you guys for your input.

Well the only good thing I can say right now about speedinc is they had the part and got it too me quickly.
They want me to prove it does not fit - wtf, or they will charge me retocking fees. Spent a lot of time on hold and going back and forth. Hopefully I get my money back or I will have i dispute it with the credit card company. (Hopefully its done.)
Not sure if between the Impalas, Camaros and Vettes if a differant shaft size is there on the PS Pulleys but the one I got was about 2/8's off too big.
The pulley was out of balnce and after putting the original pulley back on; it does not appear to be out of balnace. Not sure if it was just not on all the way where it had been pulled prior to me owning the car. Anyway I don't feel I need the part after all.

I just received my pulley and figured I would share a few pics. It is the correct pulley. It's a little sun beaten and worn a little but overall it's in great shape. I'm happy I found it!

Well as long as it works! Sounds like both of you have your problem solved.
