how to add mp3 input to my 08 z06

Is there some adapter i can buy to let me add in input so can play my iphone songs in the car? Could I get maybe a head unit off newer car like 2010? Think they have input jack?
Of does my car have it. Guess have to go look thru the manual but didn't see any input jack.
Please move this to appropriate forum if have it in wrong place.

This guy offers several options if you're willing to do a bit of work:

Alternatively, check the C6 Audio Faq in the electronics/audio forum, and there's some more DIY options which can cost as little as $10.

I bought the XM adapter to add an MP3 to the XM since I don't have or want XM. Ray has an adapter where you have have both I think.

Sounds great and so convenient for my little MP3 players. I have an Ipod as well but really don't see the need to integrate it when the MP3 input works fine for me.

Maybe i'm wrong but isn't the input jack just to the right of the CD slot?

Here's a link to what you're looking for.

BTW nice 08 MS 3LZ (linen). I have it's twin in VY...

Just so you know there were only 60 Machine Silver with linen 3LZs made in 2008. Linen was discontinued after "build out" in 09 so there may have been a few more 09s but that's about it.

Here's what I did for $10.00...works great for any input...No IPOD control or power, just an aux input

My 08 has a input plug right on the front of the radio in the upper right hand corner of the head unit, this was standard on all 08 and up so you should have it also. Just get a cord plug in and go.

I went with the brand USA Spec...part #PA15-VETTE. It interfaces with factory nav screen and HUD. It works great.

tampatopless 04-24-2011 01:14 PM

I did the FM transmitter thing. There's some static but I guess it's OK for the time being.

Thing was, the FM transmitter and cord costs $50. Some of the XM interfaces look to be about the same price but give you a lot better sound.

Plus, you gotta remember to unplug the cigarette lighter adapter when you leave the car. Both the socket in the dash and the socket in the console appear to be hot all the time and I guess the iPod could run down the battery over time.

Did more reading .In 08 they have the jack in the normal cd and changer setup but not on the nav setup.
So guess would have to do one of those other options.

Just unbelievable. How is there not a USB connection on a $60,000 car?

My nephew was in my car and plugged in his iphone and started playing music. I have the base radio.

Here I was thinking I was clever by burning my on CD's. Instead, all I need is an adapter cord and then I can play however many songs I can store in my phone.

Pretty sure that's where it was on my '08.

The Bose/Nav do not have the aux input.

What did your nephew plug into?

Just to the right of the CD slot, is a small hole. Once you plug in, your radio display says something about AUX input.
