Blue is such a simple color to do. It's one of the primary colors, in fact.

How the hell is it that GM can continue to f*ck up blue on the Corvettes is beyond me. JSB makes me twitch, and this one makes me want to vomit. Admiral Blue anyone? LeMans Blue anyone? Those were good blue colors.

Bleah, IMHO.

ThePigWhisperer 05-25-2011 04:10 PM

I would drive that straight to Earl Scheib.

jvp 05-25-2011 04:15 PM

I've often referred to JSB as "Smurf Blue". A buddy of mine topped that with the new one when he saw it. He said, "Eek. My Little Pony Blue?"

I like it. I'm now going to refer to this abomination of a color as MLP Blue.

I'm not big on Blue and it's hard to make a blue that SINGS to me, but i felt the LE Mans blue was one of the best looking blues i've seen, that was a great color..

Russell ZR1 05-25-2011 04:19 PM

it's kind of like the sky blue that can't tell if it's partly cloudy or partly sunny...

Thank you, why not Admiral Blue again or Lemans Blue. I don't want my blue to have a "baby blue cast or green cast". I can't imagine a room full of "Corvette People" or "Team Corvette" all said, YES! Thats the color we need for 2012! WTF! Bring back some of the older blues, Bridgehampton Blue, Bryar Blue, Marina Blue, something?

JSB is my favorite color on a C6. However, that new blue is hideous. :ack:

:iagree: Lemans Blue, Electron Blue or Admiral Blue again would be great.

Assuming anyone actually buys that color. Well maybe they will cancel the color during the production run and bring back black!

Hokie 05-25-2011 07:08 PM

terrible. I agree that electron blue and lemans blue are the best!

DarkKnightZ 05-25-2011 07:59 PM

Wife said it looks like 'Ghost Blue'. It looks terrifically stupid with comp grey wheels. Let's see one with chrome wheels (even though I'm not a chrome wheel guy), that might help with contrast. I just can't see anybody specifically choosing that color. And the 'color team' at GM needs to be pimp slapped.

Agree with the best blue colors - electron, marina, Le Mans - this won't go down even in the Top 10. That's a fleet color.

Agreed. It actually looks worse than I thought it would!1 Horrible. I'll bet some idiot will call this collectable because there are only so few made because of lack of demand!!!!!! Years back there was a Harley Softail in battleship grey w/ a yellow stripe on the engine rocker cover. It was ugly. Maybe 1987-91 i think I remember. I was standing in a dealer and he wanted to give it away under sticker. Said everyone thought it was ugly. Couldn't sell it. Anyway it wasn't popular and years later I remember them being in demand because it was a one year only color!!!!!!!!!! people are nuts with this it's rare thing!!

Cheech Wizard 05-25-2011 09:33 PM

Corvette ED 05-25-2011 09:52 PM

What do you think the Corvette Engineers are saying now that they are reading the forum and seeing all of the bad feed back on this color? Egg on their faces again? They made this color for Corvettes@Carlisle Chip Miller is up in heaven thinking you got the wrong Corvette blue. It should have been 1967 Marina Blue or 1968-69 LeMans blue.

With all the hate for this color I sure wouldn't want to be the first person posting on here I just bought a new Carlisle Blue Corvette. Talk about getting flamed!!!

Gary '09 C6 05-25-2011 10:39 PM

the aforementioned Marina Blue, or similar Nassau Blue, would have been just fine.
Not to mention all the recent darker blues listed above, incl. JSB.

this Carlisle Blue is an abomination....yyuucckk :ack:

:iagree:

All my vettes have been blue...Quasar, Admiral, Lemans, and JSB today....the thought of updating my 10 ZR1 to a 12 is not going to happen unless I decide that Supersonic is actually a blue color. Every new blue Corvette has offered over the last 20 years tends to turn me off more and more each time. It took me 2 years to warm up to JSB with its faint green tint. This new pastel power puff is the worst color I've seen on a vette....probably ever. :crazy2:

The darker Imperial Blue on Camaro and all the Chevy truck bodies would have been widely accepted by us Blues Bros.

Any bets on the uptake for 2012 Carlilse ZR-1's?? I'll guess 16 and only those that just have to be different will check this box. I just dont see how anyone could find this desirable, but come to think of it, I think this was similar to some Lambo's at one time.

:iagree:....It is pathetic.......Can't wait to see how low the production number is for this color......The 07 LMB Z06 I had was the prettiest vette I ever had.......

Not feeling that color at all!

RubyZR1 05-26-2011 04:39 AM

:ack: from across the pond!

GM Marketing is in no doubt clueless!

Poor Chip Miller(R.I.P.) would be spinning in his grave.....what an abomination of a colour.

GM may as well paint them pink with purple poka-dots!

99HRDTP 05-26-2011 07:20 AM

I really dislike few colors, but this is one of them. I haven't disliked a Corvette color this much since the "teal" looking cars from the C4 generation. I only hope that pictures do not convey its attributes and it looks better in person. That said, I guarantee that it will be bought due to its uniqueness alone.

Shurshot 05-26-2011 07:21 AM

GM would do well if they could snag the color team from Mopar

This year they have Challenger's out in a new color just like the Atomic Orange of a couple of year back as well as a new blue that is just like "Nassau Blue" that was the #1 color choice in 66

ub2slow2 05-26-2011 07:34 AM

Not even a ZR1 could make that look good. That is Fugly!!

Shurshot 05-26-2011 08:32 AM

I think we should call it "pacifier blue" :D

barduch 05-26-2011 08:37 AM

In the immortal words of the "GOVERNATOR", it has a genuine "girly-man" quality about it. Perhaps GM marketing feels that it will have strong appeal to those trading up from their Mazda Miatas. Not that there's anything wrong with that!

I gotta agree with most of the comments on this thread about the new blue color. There really weren't any colors where I though GM missed the mark on the C6 until now. Maybe it will look better in person . . . .

:iagree:

38 posts before mine, and not even ONE single positive comment. That is the worst color I've ever seen on a Corvette!:ack: It's so bad that if I won it in a contest I'd take the cash instead. Think I'll keep my LMB '06 - and my Marina (Nassau) Blue '67! - for a while longer!!!

Frankie2blue 05-26-2011 11:48 AM

I can see maybe some women putting that color on a vert maybe, but they missed once again with a blue.:ack: I am used to hearing negative comments about any new color that comes out, but in this case the comments are justified IMO. It just does not look like a fit for a Corvette. They really needed a nice medium dark heavy metallic blue. I think a dark green would have been nice also.

JThomas 05-26-2011 12:13 PM

Well members of the "Darker Blue" Corvette camp, or at least a representation of that camp have expressed their opinions.

First off, I too am a fan of dark blues and although Electron Bue and LeMans Blue are nice colors I would prefer something more navy in color and metallic, similar to a color used in either '89 or '90.

I did see this color at the Birthday Bash at the National Corvette Museum this year and yes, I thought it was a very nice color, but I also prefer silver/grey as well.

I think this color can work, if the car is optioned with a different wheel. In the picture, it appears dull and at first glance the comp grey wheel doesn't offer any great appeal. The fact that it is also cloudy does not help.

Anyway, I've been waiting to see this color on a complete car and I will wait to pass judgement until I see it in person.

So that's one for the "I like it column". (JMHO)

Have a great Corvette season!

:iagree: Some unique and daring individuals will buy and cherish corvettes in Carlisle Blue. Different strokes for different folks. That's what makes life interesting. I've said before that if the ZR1 was available only in "Barney Purple", I'd still be a buyer.

On the plus side for CB, it looks like a nice, non-clashing, compliment to the JSB calipers, badging, and surpercharger cover.

OnPoint 05-28-2011 12:53 PM

They need to bring LMB back.

Gene Culley 05-29-2011 08:41 AM

Man, that is horrible. This is the Corvette version of a Mary Kay car. Well that makes it easier for me to figure out what I need to stock in this color for painted parts, nothing

P.S. Many thanks to Les Stanford for posting.

7thgeneration 05-29-2011 09:37 AM

Man I was all set to pull the trigger on a GS 'Vert in this "new blue", as rumor had it that it was the blue from the Pontiac pallette called IMPULSE BLUE . Well I looked that one up and sure enough it looked pretty darn good ! It was a darker blue than JSB and thought " yep time to make my move " ! Then the pic of the rear fascia appeared at the bash and I felt like OMG please say this is a joke, it can't be right ! :ack: Now this pic of the whole car just confirms it. Well I should be elected to President of the Blues Bros. Club because I don't buy unless it's blue ! So despite what you may think they do NOT offer any blues on Corvette for 2012. PERIOD ! :toetap:

K-TownMike 05-29-2011 10:41 AM

Actually I kind of like it. A lot of women may like it. Maybe that's why GM brought it out. Probably figured they had enough "manly" colors already. Sorry to see the jetstream blue go. Love that color, even though I have a torch red 10 GS & a monterrey red 06 C6. Almost went with the jetstream blue color when I bought my 08Z( went with victory red).

The issue with JSB is the mirrors that come in a slightly different shade which really looks cheap on a 100K car. The lighter blue is easier to match. I agree though that Lemans blue is a stud. And yes guys go out and check the mirror match on JSB if it is perfect, ptl.

I like the Carlisle Blue. There, I said it. Chrome or polished wheels, lighter interior. Leave the black headlights off.

Its a color one would see on an older Giugario designed car like the 80s VW Scirocco, or on an old pinanfarina car. Or a classic Stingray.

The lines would show very well on a car like the C6 corvette, with its subtle curves and sculpting. In the sun I bet it would look awesome with that color combo:cool:
