I can't find my AIM and I want to replace the bulbs that flash when they heat up for the headlight and park brake warning.
Does anybody have easy access to the bulb number......... would my local NAPA be likely to stock? |

63 thru 66 both the headlight and parking brake warning lights flash. Both use the 257 bulb.

Dennis My local NAPA has 6 in stock so I am good to go....... thanks anyway  |
Parking brake and headlight bucket use flashing bulbs and let me know if you can't find any. I got a box of a dozen of US Made bulbs from NAPA ten years ago just in case and can let you have one.

If the ones you get from Napa are made "offshore" I would for sure bench test them before installing. I bought 4 of them and only 1 works.

Hey Guys
I'm restoring a 66 I just got and found the warning BRAKE LIGHT & LIGHTS bulbs were missing. I replaced the rest with what came out along with these two .. brake comes on when I pull the EM brake but... For the life of me I can't get the LIGHT warning to come on ... Is this light telling me the head lamps have not been raised to the upright position ? I tried this nothing lit up. Could it be I installed the wrong bulb..? What is the function of this light.. that the lamps are off or the |

It's fairly common for those wires to pull off the spade connectors on the switches and they're not easy to get to. https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...ebdfe5af87.jpg |
Here's a picture one of the telltale switches (sometimes called a limit switch, but it doesn't limit anything) on the car. The spade lug on each end should have the wires I described earlier.

Before going to all the trouble of rebuilding the pump let me ask you this: Do you hear a clicking sound when you turn on the wipers and push the button? If so, does the clicking last for 5-10 seconds then stop? If yes to both questions, the pump may be working but, just needs to be primed and/or new hoses. My pump was way down my "to do" list as well so, I didn't mess with it for a few years. When I'd finally gotten around to it I replaced the hoses then, using a syringe, I primed it and, voilą it worked! Sure was a lot easier than rebuilding the pump. Gary |
Gary. I didn't know that hmmm..I took it apart diaphragm Looked good hoses were hard.
Never payed much to the noise it made ,.. did see the pump motor was going in and out. Problem is the photo I took before I tore in to the pump didn't come out so I'm not 100% SURE that I got the housing back togeather in the same alinement it was where the 3 hoses hook up. I put it back togeather before I got the kit in a hurry, Got the kit so what the hell whats the trick to popping the old diaphragm off ? |
Sorry, as I said earlier I didn't need to disassemble the pump. Perhaps someone else may have a diagram or photo they will post.
Do you own an AIM (Assembly instruction manual)? If not, you really need one along with one or two more manuals. That one and a chassis manual would be a good start. In the mean time, you may want to check the archives or open another thread on the subject. Good luck. Gary |
